Re: Panzerbusche 39

Hello David, The standard for most infantry companies was one "Panzerbüchsentrupp with 3 rifles". You just have to multiply that with the companies in a battalion. That of course varied in time and some special organised divisions. But with the standard setup of three companies and a machi...

Re: Nitro Proof?

Hello,

I think this means that the weapon is not damaged if you fire more modern nitro powdered projectiles.

Re: Weapons issue

Christoph, Thanks for the quick reply. Is it possible to access any of this information or is it lost to the sands of time? Best, PVH Hello, If you mean if there is somewhere a central register or a list that was and is not the case. These low level (company, battalion etc..) documents are lost for...

Re: Need help with a Feldpost nr.

Hello,

I would rather say it is 06135 which would be Festungs-Bau-Bataillon 60 which was indeed in Norway in the area of Alta.
The 05135 would be a unit in russia.

Re: Panzerbusche 39

Hello David,

The correct designation would be "Panzerbüchse 39"... if your keyboard does not have the "ü" you can also write "Panzerbuechse 39"

Re: Getting the nuance right

Hello Richard,

"herunterdrücken" in this case would be "advance to" or "push to". Just guessing they were discussing the situation on a map... and they would push south... we would say "Push down" (north up, south down).

just my 2 cents.

Re: ss scheller mathias

Hello, Just with the name it is nearly impossible to find any further information on him. The only autority is the Deutsche Dienststelle WAST which needs more information to retrieve the remaining personal documents surviving the war. But nevertheless it wouldn´t tell you if he is still alive if not...

Re: Information on my Opa

Hello,

You should contact the Deutsche Dienststelle WAST and fill out a query form. It will then take between 8-14 months and they will send you all information survived about the man.

Re: Eisgang?

Hello

"Eisgang" would be "a walk in or into the ice"; It is also a term describing the movement of ice on flowing water.

Re: Job of messtrupps?

Hello,

There were several types of these units. There were light-, sound-, V0- Messtrupps which used these cars. There were different kinds light, medium, heavy Trupps. These were used in artillery and artillery support units to e.g. detect enemy batteries by sound or light.

Re: Need information on Prinz Eugen SS-DIV..

Hello Johnny,

On the "EKM" is th eunit where he was trained in... not the unit he was then transferred and ended up in. As long as you do not know the field unit he was transferred into we cannot tell his fate.

Yes, that depended on the unit.
Should I throw in some actual units?
That would be good. :-)
