Norway in WWII

Bjorn, I spent a couple of weeks at a camp near Trondheim, learning to drive BV-206s, while in the USMC. Behind one of the barns at the camp (Lanke?), I found 2 75mm PAKs from the war. They looked to be close to firing order. Someone ought to look for those, get them demilitarized, and try to save t...

Squad Leader

I used to play SL as often as possible. When stationed in Okinawa, we used to have 4-player melees on 6-8 boards, just for something to do! I've found that the "Steel Panther" series of CD-games is a lot more fun, though. I don't have to look up charts, and set up and take down are a WHOLE...

The most generous verdict I've heard on that story is that Sajer is an amalgam of some number of men. I'd be willing to bet that most if not all of that happened to someone, somewhere on the Ostfront. All of it happening to one man? Probably not, but several? I think I'd accept that.

There you go, run with Skorzeny! Maybe not a happy ending, per se, but the story can run past 1945.

My first thought would be to hold what we've got, consolidate, and strengthen our position. Have von Ribbentrop keep stringing the SOVs along, meanwhile milking them for all we can get from them. DO NOT launch Barbarossa in the immediate future!!! Bearing in mind that with 50+ years of hindsight, su...

TO&E

I started planning a project some time ago, and I've run into an authenticity stumbling block. Ultimately, I want to have a 1/285th scale Panzer Division laid out on a BIG board. Being anal retentive, I want it to look right. The reference I have is a US Army period manual TM-E 30-451. On some items...

Portepee

In reference to NCO ranks, I have reference to 'Unteroffiziere ohne Portepee,' and 'Unteroffiziere mit Portepee." What exactly is that referring to?
Thanks...

1. If I had to pick 2, I'd take Wiking and LSSAH. 2. Don't really have a favorite here, either, but I've recently been turned on to the Tychsen mystery, so there's a start. 3. Wittman comes to mind. 4. I prefer to learn about their adventures in Europe, mostly. 5. I've been out of the hobby for a wh...

Not to mention OJT (on-the-job-training)!!! I've seen several photos of German troops carrying non-issue weapons, and I'll almost guarantee they weren't taught them in basic training. Necessity is the mother of invention.

There have been some photos published from some of the party rallies. If you have the technology, find a copy of the movie "Triumph of the Will," and take some stills from that. There is some great camera work in that film!
