Hello Raul,
Both weapons appear to be K98 rifles, not sure about the top photo but the one below appears to show a ZF39, Zielfernrohr 39. There were many types used/available for the K98 and the smaller ZF4 for the later K43/G43 assault rifles.
Kind Regards,
Simon

Re: Aufklärungskommando
Hello Tomi,
Can you be a little more specific in what you are asking for. For example, Aufklarüngs (Recon) units existed in the Luftwaffe as well as in the ground troops of the Heer & Waffen SS. What does your question relate to exactly,
Kind regards,
Simon

Re: About 35. SS- und Polizei-Grenadier-Division
Hello SergioDV, The 35th SS and Police Grenadier Division was formed by the renaming of the SS Police Brigade Wirth in February 1945. The division consisted of the two police regiments zbV (special use) and units of members of the Police Weapons School II Dresden -Hellerau and the SS Junker School B...

Re: Artillerie-Regiment 11
Think it was incorporated into the 126th Division. as 126th Artillery Regiment, using the 8th Batterie of Artillerie Rgt 11 amongst others. Was destroyed in Kurland in 1945.

A late amendment to your enquiry Hans, I should also have included in my reply that the letter "O" on the tag would refer to Marinestation Ostee.SwedishHans wrote:Thank´s for your information Simon.

Re: Unit info assistance?
Well, I finally got the WAST paperwork, and nowhere in it does it suggest my guy was in the Waffen-SS. (I have no idea where the "I" in his second unit came from- he was in a regiment in the 95th after Bagration.) So I guess I need to close this thread and/or move it to the Heer section. ...

Re: Schimpf badge ???
Wartime produced Schimpf badges were hollow backed pin attached type. The quality of this one is not as crisp. I would suggest it is post war and perhaps produced for veterans to wear, but not a wartime one.

Re: Chaplains
Hello Hans, Very interesting to hear about your Uncle. The UK National Archives don't have much on German POW's, certainly there are no comprehensive lists of POWs held in the UK during WW2. You would be better off contacting the Deutsches Dienstelle in Berlin or the International Red Cross regardin...

Re: Chaplains
Hi Helmut, Some Non German SS units did make allowances for Chaplains, Belgians for example. But certainly you are correct that the Waffen SS did not provide religious services during the war. That been said a great many Waffen SS prisoners did find religion after the war as part of their spiritual ...

Re: Rank, Title, or Name?
I can definately make out "General..." in the title. I would suggest that the translator who travelled with them, at least as far as the airport would probably have been a German exile acting as a translator (but wearing British Army uniform). This was not at all uncommon. But I agree the ...
