I heard that 9. SS Panzer division was authorized to have Luchs Aufklarungpanzer but actually these rare vehicles were sent to 9. Panzer division.

Re: Gross Deutschland Panz. Div.

Re: Best Heer Panzer division in Wehrmacht ?
5. Panzer divison always could get enough reinforcement in the later period of war. In June 1944, prior to Bagration, she was one of two strongest Panzer divisions in the Eastern Front. In Jan 1945, prior to Vistula Oder, she also remained the strongest one in Army Group Center facing Russian onslau...

Re: Best Heer Panzer division in Wehrmacht ?
Servus, I have always felt that the 5. Panzer didn't receive due credit especially towards the end of the war in East Prussia. I'm not saying it was one of the best but it certainly was awesome in this campaign. Regards, Helmut what does you mean ? some people downgraded or underestimated the perfo...

Re: Best division in the Waffen SS??
Perhaps Waffen SS Panzer unit like to use Schwimmwagens. Not only Liebstandarte and Hitlerjugend, 2. and 3./SS. Pz.A.A.17 of 17.SS PanzerGrenadier Division Gotz von Berlinchingen were equipped with Schwimmwagen, on Nov 1 1944, 2. and 3. kompanies had 36 and 41 Schwimmwagen. But did other SS PanzerGr...

Re: Best Heer Panzer division in Wehrmacht ?
On September 1 1943, 23. Panzer Division had 96 Panther ready for action. But she was always understrength after mid-1944. 5.Panzer Division always received reinforcement after mid-1944 and remained the strongest division in the Eastern Front. 6. 19. and 25.Panzer division were always up to str...

Re: battle hardened veteran division 1941-45
Some correction : When Hitler launched Russian campaign on June 22 1941, there were over 150 divisions in Russian battlefield, until May 1945, how many these veteran divisions still fighting in the Eastern Front on that month, Let me calulated that : Infanterie Division : 1,7,11,14,15,17,21,23,24,30...

Re: Real organisation of the 9. SS-Panz.Div. (1.6.44)
Kelvin, 6 251/9's in the schw. Kp./ SS-Panz.Aufkl.Abt. 9, instead of 4. The le. Panz.Aufkl.Kp. were build according to the 1.3.1942 KStN 1113 (gp.), instead of the later version which had the 250/8. By the way, the list I provided can be discussed if you want. You can't win however, because I have ...

Re: Zitadelle Armor: German T-34 & captured equip.; tanks & SPG
Was there any T-34 still in service in Sept 1943 ? The 10./SS-Pz.Rgt.2/SS-Pz.Gren.Div "Das Reich" was disbanded on 01.August.1943. I don't know if their T-34 were all destroyed or passed to another company. Das Reich also had a 9. kompanie on the SS-Pz.Rgt.2 that used T-34. Both 9. and 10...
