Re: Positions with the Police
Hello, I also correct the words just for the case you need them correct. 1. Hundertschaftsführer der Polizei - A Hundertschaft is a unit designation within the police (100 men). So this is a commander of a Hunderstchaft. 2. Personalsachbearbeiter - Personnel administration clerk 3. Verkehrsoffizier ...

Hello,
The only way is to contact the Deutsche Dienststelle WAST which is also available online. There you will get (be patient as it takes about 8-10 months) the surviving informations about relatives if some exist.

Hello,
First we would have to know at which time in the war because that changed significantly.

Re: reserve army?
Hello, I don´t know if you refer to the Wehrmacht but in the Wehrmacht sometimes the "Ersatzheer" (replacement army) is translated as Reserve army. It was responsible for training new soldiers, host reconvalescent soldiers and train soldiers in special courses. This army provided the repla...

Hello John,
Interesting.. did you look into the files of the specific Einsatzgruppen officers or do you mean you did not come over an entry in your overall research?
Thanks,
Christoph

Re: Einsatzgruppen
Hello, Each of the four Einsatzgruppen was about battalion size between 600-800 men. Each Einsatzgruppe was organised into two Abteilungen - These were organised in Einsatz- and Sonderkommandos with 70-120 men each and Teilkommandos of about 20-30 men. Gestapo (9 %), SD (3,5 %), civilian police (4,1...

Re: Fallschirmjager Photos - Fake, Reprints or Real ??
Hello,
I can confirm that these are reenactor photos. They were once posted in our reenactment section and I am at the moment searching for the thread. I think this needs action - find out who sold them as original in the first. And we should contact the ebay seller as well.

Hello,
No such a list does not exist. Without date of birth and with this name it is also difficult to get informations via the Deutsche Dienststelle WAST.

Re: 8th Motorized Division in 1942?
Hello, None of the units you list above makes any sense or did exist. There was never a 8th Cavalry division or a motorized cavalry division or an armoured cavalry division (whatever this should be) in the german armed forces. Maybe you can give more informations about where this strange info comes ...

Re: German Military Multispecialties
Hello, The examples you bring are exceptions which I am sure (but do not know) are also present in the US, british etc.. army. The Wehrmacht also had their specialists and every officer had to come from a branch and attend the weapons school of his branch. Often the lack of officers was it that forc...
