For Zezio73 I am glad I was able to help. The "(o)" = "ortsfest" which means it was stationary, fixed, static, permanently emplaced. It was not meant to be transferred (but evidently and surprisingly it was during the last several months of the war). Flak units capable of being l...

Soviet Airborne - this might be a good place to start: 7781 GLANTZ, DAVID M. HISTORY OF SOVIET AIRBORNE FORCES. Based on extensive research in Russian & German archives, this is a comprehensive & very detailed account of the organization, development , tactics and combat operations of Soviet...

That's O.K. then, Zezio. My big concern was just that you got the information on Flakscheinw.Abt. 470 and it proved useful. No need to apologize, but always try to say thanks when people do things for you because then they will be willing to come back and help you again sometime. As far as I know, t...

If you would give a simple "Thank You" when people on this Board take their time to answer your questions (e.g., Flakscheinwerfer-Abt. 470), then perhaps they might be willing to help you again.

Here it is:

(Mobilmachung - 01.01.40) Aufklärungsstaffel 1.(H)/14;
(27.01.42 - 14.07.42) wurde Stab/Nahaufklärungsgruppe 11;
(01.08.43 - 23.03.44) gestr.

May I ask why you are interested in these units? I have a lot of information on them, but I'm always interested in more.

Karl - I can only speak from my own experience. The last time I visited Freiburg-Merzhausen was 14 years ago, so things may have changed since then. To "dig out" the information on the Trabas, you would have to research your way through most of the surviving folders in the Signaturen that ...

Karl -

Yes, you will find a lot of information on the Trabas in the Lagekarten and in the other Flak records at BA-MA.

For Karl : if only that were the case! No, the information comes from Georg Tessin, Verbände und Truppen der Deutschen Wehrmacht und Waffen-SS 1939-1945 , the Norbert Kannapin Feldpostnummer volumes, and from BA-MA Freiburg - Signatur RL 40/Kart. The latter are the monthly Flakartillerie-Lagekarten...

Postscript to the above:

For some strange reason, the Feldgrau software printed a "smiley" where the number 8 should appear. So where you see the "smiley" with the sunglasses, this should read Flakscheinw.Rgt. 8 (as in "eight", in case it does it again).

Hi Sven - I never said BA-MA had published this statement or had put it up on their website. It is what they have told countless researchers over the years either in correspondence with them or in person. At least that is what these researchers have told me over the years. There has been frequent me...
