Re: So....My Tank Corps in Prussia...

Hi to all.
I have not been here for quite a long time (I'm sorry...), and, as I can see, I've got quite much to read about the Tank Corps :]

Music inspired by WWII

Metal Group Sabaton sings a bit about WWII. Primo Victoria (about D-Day; scenes from "Saving Private Ryan") http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrJAwCBbnuc 40-1 (about battle of Wizna, IX 1939) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBwwFsKTJGs (home made clip, hence brilliant) Wolfpack (text: about co...

Re: Any German Ship in History!

Refreshing the discussion: I'd choose battlecruiser(battleship) Scharnhorst, one of the Terrible Twins! Not so many capships even turned their guns against enemy aircraft carriers, and Scharnhorst even send one to the bottom of the sea.

Ewart Brookes - "Proud Waters"

Hi to all. I'm working on my so-called presentation/speech, that each Polish student has to speak during his final exams. I decided to make "Proud Waters" one of the materials I'm going to talk about. The problem is, that finding anything, from his biography to any description of this book...

According to one of Polish WWII forums:
Cornelius Ryan in his "The Longest Day" mentioned a story of a Pole conscripted to 716 ID, pvt. Alojzy Damski, who was in a bunker not far fromt the "Gold" beach.

Of course I do agree. I only mention, that Gestapo didn't have to insist on Soviets doing it, they'd have done it on their very own. Just imagine yourself over 10,000 (not all would have survived till "liberation") Polish trained officers to cdeal with when the started creating Polish Army...

Hi to all. Katyń is a long topic, so I'll make myself briefly: I doubt that Gestapo could have "made" NKVD killed Polish POWs. Beria signed the order and it was Stalin's choice to get rid of Polish officers, raised in anti-communist spirit. They were a potential threat to him, so eliminati...

One question: why there's no mention about SS Standarte Kurt Eggers in SS list?

So if they volunteered to SS, then they might have been assigned to
"News" (Kriegsberichter) unit SS-Standarte 'Kurt Eggers'?
