I'm curious about the Soldbuch are you sure its legitimate? I know a lot of sharpshoots and snipers had their Military Occupation listed as something mundane like assistant gunner or just a regular Landser. As far as I know I don't think anybody ever had a soldbuch with Schrfschütze because of the i...

Thanks so much for this info Richard. It will be interesting to see in my research how many of them are related to the Van de Water's who came to the Americas.

Born Friday 13th June, 1986. So for the mathematically impaired I'm 20. Anyways my interest in WWII began when I picked up a book in elementary school. I don't remember what age but I was completely fascinated by the Germans especially in the pictures so I picked up books about WWI as well. N...

I would have taken all the Major ports on the West and just sat around fighting defensively. There is no way in hell you could capture enough cities to make the Soviets capitulate. Moscow has been historically proven to not bother the Russians at all. Leningrad would have been a blow to the communis...

Actually Atheism isn't really connected to Communism so much as Marx's theory of Historical Materialism which became a major part of communism especially with the introduction of the Post-Great War period.

Blood Red Snow by Gunther K. Koschorrek

I picked up this book and I am currently reading it. Thoughts on it? The only problem I have with it so far other then him never identifying his unit for some unexplained reason that he eludes to in the Prologue is that its claim is its a personal diary of the conflict in Stalingrad. Though only two...

I was more specifically talking to those who deny that the Allies did anything wrong. Warfare brings out the worst in men and it doesn't effect only the Germans or the Japanese but effects all involved in the conflict. I guess I don't like the Ivory Tower dwellers who denounce everything that doesn'...

I find snipers very boring and on average their jobs are very boring. Its the rare occasion that they even shoot that most of their training is spent memorizing terrain makes me yawn. They are overhyped Recon troops.

sigh...yeah, i know what you mean. its hard to have to actually vote for your leaders instead having one forced on you. and being allowed to keep what you earn, and rise to your abilities. and entrepreneurship...I agree, tough going. much better when Comrade Stalin was in charge. of course, while y...
