I'm afraid I can't help very much, but such a tie is pictured in "German Soldiers of World War 2" by Jean De Lagarde, published by Histoire et Collections 1995. It's on page 25, and as with most photos in this book, is an original tie modelled as part of a complete U-Boat Kapitanleutnant's...

It will be worth the wait. One of the best accounts I've read for a long time. Incidentally, the Moisin Nagant sniper rifle on the cover of the original German version of this book is correct to the memoirs, as Allerberger used such a captured rifle until summer 1944, when he was finally issued a sc...

Thanks for the prompt reply. That confirms what I suspected. I also find the lack of a remotely controlled external MG somewhat strange considering such a mount was fitted to the JgdPz 38 (t) and very late StuG IIIs, as you said. The lack of one must have been a serious disadvantage without infantry...

Close defence MGs on Jagdpanzer IV

This is my first post on the board as a long time reader who just got round to registering. Most technical info I can find on the Jagdpanzer IV states that it had one MG34/42 fitted for close defence in addition to the main armament. However, I can't find out whether this was internally or externall...
