I'd never heard of Josip Broz Tito being an ethnic Croat. Recall one of my college chums stating he was from Crna Gora (Montenegro), but from other discussions I've had, Tito somehow managed to efface most evidence of his early years and precise origins

Bitte Schoen!

J&G Sales in Prescott AZ has them, too!

(Unfortunately they did NOT bring any of their S&B boxer-primed 7.62 x 54R softpoint hunting ammo with them to the Gun Show in Phoenix this weekend) Grrrrr!

I'm going to have to VERY carefully begin working up load data using the No. Carolina made .45 Colt insert and Pyrodex brand powder, will start by using some R-P .45 Colt brass cut down to .890" same as .455 Colt/.455 Mark 1 or .45 Auto Rim, 155 grain SWC's to start, with filler wads so that I ...

One place to be VERY careful about is Mitchell's Mausers. They're lately trying to pass off Yugoslavian M-48's with Tito era Communist marks as "M-1943" Kar98K's. with "Royal Serbian" crests Now, the Zastava arsenal did make a good rifle in the M-48, and the Charles Daly company ...

THAT would be the rarest decoration of all. Checked the Flag site...I also have a VERY old Tirol crest badge, possibly pre-1945, and the style of the eagle is almost identical to your avatar thing, with an added wreath by the head, like the current Tirol crest. South Tyrol/Sud-Tirol is a region prev...

Well, the Star to the Grand Cross is still one of the rarest of the Iron Cross awards, as there were only TWO issues, ever! Right behind Golden oakleaves, swords & diamonds to the Knights' Cross(Rudel only) And still scarcer than Grand Crosses, as I recall Goering's award was the sole 1939 issue...

This is an interesting concept, but I'm trying to figure out known examples of Anti-British personalities and groups to side with Germany when the Germans were occupiers per se.... Major Jack Ryan and other Irish Nationalists chose the German side...but Northern Ireland was never occupied by the Weh...

Doesn't that book deal with those who were classed as "mischlinge" , as in of partial Jewish ancestry, but not a high enough proportion to be slated for deportation? The incident I read of involved a man who was regarded as being fully Jewish, and should have been wearing his yellow star t...

Dobra vecer , Hab! On the Warsaw Uprising of 1943, you can get most of what you need by obtaining a copy of the Stroop Report (aka "The Warsaw Ghetto No Longer Exists"), written by Gruppenfuerher Jurgen Stroop. It's an incredibly detailed diary of the operation, written as a series of Dai...

Rudel's a good example of a Luftwaffe ace that didn't step on anybody's toes back before V-E day, as between his astounding point count/kill totals and keeping his mouth shut, he managed to get one of what was supposed to be the 12 (and only 12) Golden Oakleaves awards well prior to what was suppose...

Sid, old boy: That's what I figured as well, in regards to your 1st paragraph. :D In regard to the 2nd, that would seem to be the most logical & combat effective course of action w/r/t. Schutzmannschaft. "Ich kannst nicht Estonian Gesprechen, herr Speiss! Nur Latvian und ein bisschen Deutsc...

Lit: Thanks for the add'l info. Hvala! Note I did not indicate HOW LARGE "bunches" may have enrolled in the various locales I rattled off...considering that in the Memel area claimed by the East Prussians, the populace wasn't 100% German, and persons who were ethnically Lithuanian MAY have...

That's what I thought--though for the sake of brevity (sometimes I can go on for several paragraphs on a post) I left out some bits in the Wehrmacht "Pyramid of Honor" and skipped ahead. Thanks Helmut for clarifying and noting that by the time one got the Ritterkreuz one had already earned...
