Yes, they are all there.

In addition, we included a Person Index, and a Unit Index that goes down to the Abteilungen/Bataillone/Brigade level for German/Soviet formations.

Re: Feldgrau Author: Stephan Hamilton

Frederick - Just noticed the post . . .far too busy these days working on the next Volume in the Oder Front series to check as much as I'd like. I hope your talks went well . . . mine was well attended. Oder Front Volume I has hit the streets in the UK, and anyone at Historicon was able to purchase ...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Stephan Hamilton

Your observations are very interesting, indeed. I also believe that Heinrici began to develop his defensive technique during the battles of H.Gr. Mitte in 1942/43, but I did not delve into any primary documents of the 4.Armee —this was just beyond the scope of my current work. I did not know that he...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Stephan Hamilton

I do discuss the development of German defensive doctrine, but merely as a way to provide context to what Heinrici accomplished in April 1945. There was never any real "development" of German defensive doctrine during the war, other than the guidance issued by Hitler in 1942 that drew on h...

Re: Explosive New Book about Kursk Coming out in May

Thanks for that teaser, Doug. It will be interesting to see how Nipe's book compares with Valeriy Zamulin's DEMOLISHING THE MYTH. THE TANK BATTLE AT PROKHOROVKA, KURSK, JULY 1943: AN OPERATIONAL NARRATIVE when it is released in June.

Re: Feldgrau Author: Stephan Hamilton

I do not foresee any other delays. We are working through the final layout now and I expect the book to be out the door by early June. Volume II will also be delayed as I have significantly increased the scope of that book to incorporate translations from new documents I received from both NARA and ...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Stephan Hamilton

I'm keeping the other potential volumes under wraps for a while as I sort through my material and structure the rest of the series. Bottom-line is that there are thousands of pages of untapped German and Russian material for this period of the war and very, very little of it has been translated and ...

Rail Movement Boxes on Operational Maps

Can someone explain how to read the numbers on division rail movement boxes marked on operational maps. I haven't been able to find a reference in any of my English or German sources. Thanks!

Re: Feldgrau Author: Stephan Hamilton

Ron, Three quarters of the book is made up of first person accounts and translations of primary documents. Most are from the senior commanders to include the complete translation of Heinrici’s postwar study of the battle (MS T-9) and the translations of the relevant operational reporting and telepho...

Re: A couple of excellent imminent Ostfront books

Richard - Outside of the more well known Festungen like Küstrin, Frankfurt a.d.O., Stettin, Posen, and Danzig, I noted a series of others like Schneidemühl, Thorn, Graudenz, and Elbing. Saft covers them to one extent or another in Krieg im Osten (which is currently the only source I have on them) so...

Re: Verteidigungsbereich Berlin, Abt. Ia op Nr. 400/45 g. vom 19

I don't have the original German document. Once I identified it in BA-MA, it was pointed out to me that I could obtain it more easily by spending 8 Euro on the Chronos book, which I did.

I'll look back through my BA-MA correspondance to try and find the record reference and post it here.

Re: A couple of excellent imminent Ostfront books

Mike Jones --the same author as Leningrad ? What is the scope of the book. . .fortress/city fighting? The Posen book looks interesting (both the one you posted below in German and the L&E production). I was more impressed with SS-Panzer-Aufklarungs-Abteilung 11 "Nordland" then I was w...

Re: Festung Kolberg 1945: Battle Report

As it turns out, I was able to work the fighting for Kolberg into The Oder Front 1945, Volume II. So for those who do not easily read German this report will be translated in its entirety for my second volume and I'll also add some other tid-bits about the battle.

Re: 17. & 23. Flak-Divisions, 1945

If you are using Soviet data, it is not to be trusted. Both Zhukov and Knoiev's war diaries mis-label German units. Only the 1.Flak Division under Sydow was in Berlin during the fighting. I am very familiar with the OOB of H.Gr. Weichsel ( 11.Armee, 2.Armee, 4.Armee, 3.Pz.Armee, 9.Armee, 12.Armee, a...

Re: Verteidigungsbereich Berlin, Abt. Ia op Nr. 400/45 g. vom 19

The original is in a Luftwaffe file at BA-MA. However, you can see the entire order on page 19-47 of Der Todeskampf Der Reichshauptstadt published by Chronos in 1994. It is a very dry planning document, probably the only one Reymann published before the battle.
