The Aircraft you are refering too belonged to JV44 and were usualy FW-190D's, this is about the only color photo i can find

Hi jason, I recal reading something about both german and russian snipers using what they called "explosive rounds" in the book "Out Of Nowhere A history of the military Sniper" By Martin Pegler, the 7.62 round is roughly .308mm and is used by most modern/western military snipers...

Hi William, Are you refering to the Gun lock on the front of the Hummel? If so then fromt he pics ive seen i beleive it folds down when the Hummel is in action or when the gun is up, i beleive they were only locked when the Hummel was traveling, I Hope this helps as im no expert in this matter lol C...
