Re: Ruszki & Kiernozia Poland 1939 - Panzers crushed by infantry
The battle of Kiernozia: More photos from the same places - villages Sierżniki and Skowroda (even same soldiers can be seen) - more tanks which were destroyed in these two villages during the battle of Kiernozia: http://img.odkrywca.pl/forum_pics/picsforum18/d71a.jpg Is it the same tank as in the pr...

Re: Wisloka on Sep 8 1939.
Hi again! German casualties during the battles of Wysoka and Jordanów (in Jordanów region) on 2nd of September were around 50 - 60 tanks. Two tank companies suffered the major part of these losses - 3. company and 1. company from I./Panzer-Regiment 3. If it comes to men losses, at least around 40 KI...

Re: THE TANK ACES.
If it comes to the battle of Sieraków itself: - On 19th of September Orlik eliminated 7 German tanks (from Panzer-Abteilung 65. or from I. battalion of Panzer-Regiment 11.) during the battle of Sieraków. Most of those 7 tanks eliminated (most probably 6 of them) were Pz-35(t) tanks. German sources s...

"Panzerwaffe officer captured during first days of September 1939 was praising speed and nimbleness of a Polish tankette, claiming that: "...it is very hard to hit such a small cockroach from a gun"." "Cockroach" versus Panzers: Plutonowy podchorąży rez. Roman Edmund O...

Re: German Army 1st september 1939
I don't know who - but some German probably - invented a legend, that he was personally leading a counterattack of his last battalion, and that it was succesfull and stopped the Poles. While in fact he was not leading any counterattack personally and he also did not stop the Poles - they captured P...

Re: German Army 1st september 1939
He had got a prosthesis as far as I know. He lost his left forearm (and he got a prosthesis) and it also seems that his right forearm was also damaged: http://img.odkrywca.pl/forum_pics/picsforum22/4_copy72.jpg He was WIA by Polish artillery fire (14. heavy artillery dyon) around 6:00 on 10th of Se...

Re: German Army 1st september 1939
It was a rather heavy wound, as Generalmajor Basler took temporary command of the division after that. How long was he commanding it? In what period? but i am not sure that he completely lost his forearm though. I've got a photo depicting Briesen, Bursegk and Sieler after the battle soutwest of Oud...

Re: Army Group Reserves, OKH Reserves - Poland 1939
But it seems that there is no info what happened with these units later - and I'm interested in it.
I want to know if they were subordinated to any army during the campaign or no, and if yes - to each army each of them was subordinated.

Army Group Reserves, OKH Reserves - Poland 1939
There were a lot of German units which participated in the Polish Campaign, which were parts of Army Group Reserves or OKH Reserve. I want to know if they were subordinated to any German army - and to which one - during the Polish Campaign. At the beginning of the campaign, these units were (as far ...

Re: Breakdown of the German casualties in Poland 1939
But upon rereading the passage I think Elble's statement refers to loss figures in general, not the specific ones he quotes further down on the page, as they are indeed implausibly low. Figures you provided cannot refer to loss figures in general, because general casualties of these divisions were ...

Re: Breakout of the German casualties in Poland 1939
On the next page he simply states, that, due to the nature of the fighting, a realtively high number of MIA would have to be added to these loss figures, but most of these cases were again available for their units after a short period of captivity. The funniest thing is that he writes just total r...
