oraniembaum breaktrough
Looking for ingformation about this pocket and surprised that the germans did nothing to try to crush it I found this topic. 9th and 10th feld divisions of the luftwaffe were reinforced with static panther tanks ala panther turms. And 11SS and the SS brigade had also the support of the tanks of 11SS...

FHH Minsk Pocket
Well it's amazing a group formed by tanks and other vehicles was able to reach the german lines. How they managed to obtain fuel, etc... This remembers me also of Rettemeier, the commander of 5 pz abt. that also escaped from the pocket apparently with some of his men and vehicles ... I've never foun...

Feldherrnalle survivors of the minsk ocket
Just a few days ago I was able to read in Munoz book about this unit that although most of the division was captured after failed attemps to break out of the Minsk pocket, including their commander, a group of tanks (6) and some SPW's were able to break of the encirclement and reach the german lines...

German corps captured at MOns by US 3rd armored
srs, I've read that at Mons in Belgium about 30.000 german trops were captured and that this had a big influence in the early penetration of the sigfried line by the allies. Wich german units were defeated in this bag ? Would not also all the trops left in the atlantic ports many hundred-thousend wo...

stug abt 8
Interesting information from these units.
ASAIK was an independent unit, listed somewhere as having as many as 30 stugs.

Stug at or Pzjg Abt 8 what was this unit
In the area of army group south during at least 1943 existed one unit called stug abt 8 or pzjag abt 8.
Does anybody know its origins employement and fate? Its number 8 does not follow any series in the stug battalions or panzer jager abt. as independent formations.
thanks

51st Highland and mannpower
Well , is not the subject I was asking about but also interesting. Britain probably had the human resources nedeed to maintain the divisions disbanded but they were not trained or not were in britain. I'm thinking in the anti air defences, logistics and other services or simply "occupation"...

8th hussars destruction during Gazala battle and cold engine
Hi, 8th Hussars from 4th armoured brigade was nearly destroyed during the first day of the gazala battle. ASFIK The light squadron equipped with Stuarts reacted to the menace advancing to the prepared positions but meet frontally DAK panzers in masse and had to retire trough both Grant squadrons. Th...

51st H division in normandy
I would like to know in which engagements did this division participate during the normandy battles.
I remember they fought in the 6th airborne area during the first weeks.
Its performance seems to have not been up to its name. But I haven't find why?

achilles aganist panzers in buron -normandy
Buron was a place to remind for Canadians. On the 7-8 June and 8 July 1944 there where fierce combats there. But I want to know about a firefight that took place when the germans did try to reoccuppy Buron on 8 July. For once the canadian infantry was being backed by a British Self propelled anti ta...
