Re: 8th Mountain Division

Hi Space Pope,
I would not list the 157th or the 8th as Elite units. It sounds like this maquisard is trying to do a little bragging about the quality of the enemy forces they faced..Regards,

Re: B29 Bombers in ETO

Thank you for the information. Your info comes as no surprise. Just verifies what I thought but I wanted to confirm.

I guess the picture in the book was mislabeled

Thanks again and have a great holiday weekend.

B29 Bombers in ETO

Servus, Were B29 Bombers ever employed in the ETO? I saw a picture in a book some time ago, of a B29 which supposedly was in the ETO. It seems that this would have been an awful waste since the B29's range was not needed in Europe and could be employed to much greater effect in the Pacific. Any thou...

German movies on DVD

Servus, OK, I know that VHS tapes, for all practicl purposes will not play in a US spec VCR player. My question is: will Geman DVDs play in American spec players. I have found many good movies on the German Amazon but I don't want to end up spending money and not be able to watch them. :( Thanks in ...

Chaplains

Servus, I know that for the most part the Divisions of W-SS didn't have Chaplains. Exceptions being Handschar and, I believe Frundsberg. I read somewhere that Heinz Harmel managed to get chaplains for his division. Is this true? If so, what branch of service were they assigned? I can't believe they ...

Black Cross/ Red Star

Servus,
Does anyone know if there are any plans to reprint vol 1 of this series? Also, I just got vol 3 in the mail and it says that there is a vol 4 in the works. Anyone know about when this volume is due out?

Thanks in advance for any information. :[]

Thanks again.

Re: Naval and Military Bookstores in Germany

Servus,
I don't know if it's still open but I used to frequent ( and spend megabucks) at the Guenther Richter Bookstore in Berlin.
I got a lot of my unit histories there many years ago.

Merry Christmas

Re: Where do you buy your books?

Servus,
I buy virtually all my books on amazon, either .com or .de. The German site is a great place to find unit histories.
As much as I like browsing booksotres, I only go there any more to scope out I book before buying it on amazon.

Helmut
