The Do335 you are talking about used to be in the Deutsche Museum in Munich, Germany.

However it was only a loan from the National Air & Space and has returned since. If I'm not mistaken it goes on display in the new bulding at Duelles Airport.

The fuel situation is very easily explainable. High octane fuel takes a lot of refining prior to discovery of octane boosting addatives. So they had to take what they got.
