Well the last Milk Cow (U-490 Oblt. Wilhelm Gerlach) was sunk on June 12 1944.

The Milkcows weren´t regarded untenable, but all were sunk (10 Milk Cows).

For more info on the Milk Cows take a look here:

I have to admit that I have not red it yet, but soon will.

I would imagine another reason was the condensation water etc dropping from the ceiling, what I think is not to pleasant, if you´ve got water-drops constantly dropping on your head

Well on quite a few pictures you can see mainly the officers and NCOs wearing their official caps (as in the movie). Only the commander was alowed to wear the white cap, to quickly define him as such.

Well certainly not Russia or anti partisan warfare! Would be interesting to hear a veteran´s oppinion on this topic, but I personally gue...

I don´t know the detailed answer to your question, but maybe someone on the forum of http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com My explanation would be rather simplistic: why "hide" something as prestigious as an EK or even RK on the ribbon bar? Well with the ´57 regulations you also had the KC (I th...

No, it was not a Tiger, but a Panther, but unfortunately I don´t know the exact modell.

Here is a link to some pictures of Max Wünsche, including one in his Panther turret.
