JagdPanthers in normal tank battalions?

I've learned that JagdPanthers were used by the following outfits in the last months of the war: 2/sPz. Abt. 507; Pz. Abt. 2106 of the 106th Panzer Brigade; Panzer Lehr Division and 4th Panzer Division; and the 2nd, 9th and 10th SS Panzer Divisions. Does someone have any idea how many served with wh...

25th Panzergrenadier Division just before Berlin...

I've seen in Jentz's Germany's Panther Tank that 25th Panzergrenadier Division had Panthers--some with the organic Panzer Abteilung 5, and some with the attached I/Pz.Rgt. 130. Just before the final battle for Berlin, what did this division have in tanks and assault guns/Panzerjaegers--total numbers...

I hope you can find help for the poor man, Flagon. I couldn't care less if he was Waffen-SS; the old man deserves a break in his latter years.

Thank'ee kindly, Uncle Joe. I'd always wondered about the effect of using water-injection on the engine itself.

Well, all I can say is, thank God America and Russia never crossed swords in open war, either shortly after WWII, or through the present day. As Churchill himself said once: "Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on the strange voyage can measur...

Oleg, let me quote a bit from Steven Zaloga's Osprey New Vanguard #102, T-54 and T-55 Main Battle Tanks 1944-2004 : "... During 1944, development began of T-44 prototypes with 100mm and 122mm guns. Both the D-10T and LB-1 100mm guns and the D-25T 122mm gun were mounted in different turret confi...

And doesn't water-injection also cause an aero-engine to wear out faster? Wouldn't it be necessary to change the engine ASAP after utilizing water-injection?

I think Hitler designed his own uniforms as head of the Nazi Party and Fuehrer of Germany. Perhaps the white uniform (was it a whole uniform or a jacket only?) was intended for summer formal wear, like when he was at Berchtesgaden, while he wore a darker-colored jacket (a slightly different shade of...

Pardon me; I forgot about the 122mm being tested in the T-44. But I was nonetheless right when I said that the T-44 never had a gun bigger than 85mm in all its production examples.

If the 100mm was too big, then, IMHO, the 122mm was ridiculously too big.

Bob, if you're still with us, try Steven Zaloga's M18 Hellcat Tank Destroyer 1943-97 (Osprey New Vanguard #97).

It might also be well to recall that the T-44 never had a gun bigger than 85mm in its production versions, though it was tested with the 100mm gun later used in the T54/55 series. But the T-44's turret--based on that of the T-34/85, but lacking the latter's "goose-necked" appearance--was j...

According to Steven Zaloga in the Osprey New Vanguard book on the T-34/85, the T-34/85 was designed from the outset to utilize a five-man crew, Commissar. But for a good bit of the type's combat career with the Red Army, they made do with just four men, leaving the front machine gunner out because o...
