Re: Status of 9+10th SS PAnzer Division Pre Arnhem

Marc, Regarding the Panthers with II./SS-Pz.Rgt. 10 and later I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 10 you might perhaps find this old post of mine interesting  : http://www.feldgrau.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=166257#p166257 Martin Block P.S.: And after having had the pleasure to met Marcel personally in the meantime ...

Re: JgdPz.IV/48 & PzW.42 Maultier in the Ardennes?

By mid December 1944 the following divisions participating in the Ardennes offensive still had some Jagdpz. IV L/48 in their inventories: 2. Pz.Div. (Pz.Jg.Abt. 38) = 1 9. Pz.Div. (Pz.Jg.Abt. 50) = 7 116. Pz.Div. (Pz.Jg.Abt. 228) = 10 3. Pz.Gren.Div. (Pz.Jg.Abt. 3) = 8 15. Pz.Gren.Div. (Pz.Jg.Abt. 3...

Re: Question on Panzer Artillerie in the Ardennes

According to the documents I've seen so far the 'Wespe' in both 1. SS-Pz.Div. and 12. SS-Pz.Div. were reported as Munitionsträger 'Wespe', i.e. they didn' have a gun. On 8.12.1944 OKH/GenStdH/Org.Abt. had ordered to send 10 'Hummel' to the formation area of the Fhr.Gren.Brig. to convert 2 batteries ...

Re: Anti tank guns in Infantry Divisions

Helmut No, not all German infantry divisions did get a company of Pak (Sf) guns for their Pz.Jg.Abt., but quite a few. To give you an impression please check out this link http://forum.panzer-archiv.de/viewtopic.php?p=161450#161450 where you can at least find out which Infantry divisions did get the...

Re: Question on Panzer Artillerie in the Ardennes

Here's an overview about availability of self-propelled artillery (Wespe & Hummel) and self-propelled heavy infantry guns (Grille) to units commited in the BotB. Exact figures for 16.12.1944 are not available as far as I can tell. 'Wespe' and 'Hummel' were only allocated to Pz.Div., Pz.Gren.Div....

Re: sdkfz 251/22

Andy, the Sd.Kfz. 251/22 were supposed to be issued to Panzer divisions for the a) Pz.Gren.Btl.(gp.) as (T.E.) schw.Kan.Zug (7,5 cm) (gp)(fG): K.St.N. 1125 (gp)(fG) v. 1.11.1944 = 6 Sd.Kfz. 251/22 replacing the standard Sd.Kfz. 251/9 b) Pz.Jg.Abt. as Pz.Jg.Kp.(SPW)(fG): K.St.N. 1148 (fG) v. 1.4.1945...

Re: Panzer Reg. Bake

Hi William, Is it confirmed that Oberstlt. Dr. Baeke actually did use a Tiger? The s.Pz.Rgt. Baeke was an improvised unit formed by temporary (late Jan until late Feb 1944) placing s.Pz.Abt. 503 (Tiger) and II./Pz.Rgt. 23 (Panther) under the command of Stab Pz.Rgt. 11. According to an article compil...

Re: Tiger I-equipped units in the Ardennes

Well Rob, That is basically correct, but the point is that when Pz.Abt.(Fkl) 301 was converted into a Tiger unit, orders said it was to do so with just 1. - 3. Kp. while the 4. Kp. became officially separated from the unit. It was placed at the disposal of the Chef H Ruest u BdE for later use in the...

Re: Towed/ SP Infantry gun of GD and HG Panzerkorps

Fsch.Pz.Korps HG reported having 21 le.I.G. available. As usual the le.I.G. could be found in the heavy weapon companies of the Pz.Gren. battalions, the s.I.G. in the regimental I.G. companies plus a few in the heavy weapons company of Korps-Sturm-Btl. HG. Same applied to Pz.Gren.Div. GD but some o...

Re: Towed/ SP Infantry gun of GD and HG Panzerkorps

On 1.1.1945 Fsch.Pz.Korps HG reported having a total of 20 towed and 8 self-propelled s.I.G. 'Grille' available. Pz.Gren.Div. GD reported 10 self-propelled s.I.G. 'Grille' available (30.12.1944). Apparently there were also a few towed s.I.G. available but those figures are more or less illegible. I ...

Re: KG-Einem/24th Pz Div early Jan'45

Prit, Sorry, but I am unable to verify an allocation of 17 Jagdpz. IV - i.e. Pz. IV/70(V) or 70(A) since the Jagdpz. IV L/48 was already long out of production - to 24. Pz.Div. during January 1945. When the division was ordered to move to East Prussia it had to leave the tanks of its III./Pz.Rgt. 24...

Re: misterious unit Panzer abteilung 118 in 1944

According to Google Maps Armavir is located in the Caucasus region! Could it be that the soldier in question had died in captivity? During Nov 1944 the Pz.Abt. 118 was subordinated to XXVI. A.K. (Pz.AOK 3, H.Gr. Mitte) notheast of Gumbinnen (East Prussia). On 23.11.1944 it received orders to concent...

Re: 2.Panzer-Division / Panzeraufklärungs-Abteilung 2

Nonsense, 7,5 cm le.I.G. can easily be found in all monthly status reports of the 2. Pz.Div. from the spring and summer of 1944 in the I./Pz.Gren.Rgt. 2, I./Pz.Gren.Rgt. 304, Pz.Felders.Btl. 82 and last but not least the 5./Pz.A.A. 2.

Re: Combat at Sevsk -26.8.43-31.8.1943

Igor, my data was compiled from a variety of documents found in the Files of the Gen.Insp.d.Pz.Tr. (RH 10) in the BA-MA Freiburg as well as some rolls from the T78 series from NARA Washington. I think I tried to explain this already earlier to you in another thread. I do not know how the data is pre...
