Re: Panther maintenance
You're right Die Blechtrommel, i made a confusion with the Ausf version, since it's against all logic to have the "D" before the "A", nonetheless, the Ausf "A" (or the "G") didn't solved all those problems, and the greatest "enemy" of the panther wer...

Re: Panther maintenance
I'll advise you two magazines that are still being sold, both in french. In the regular Battailles & Blindés (nº37) you have a special article about the guderian vision of the panther in the kursk battle, in the Battailles & Blindés Hors Série (nº13) you have over 100 pages all dedicated to ...

Re: Ostfront fans, more excellent Ostfront books are coming!
Those books would give an excelente summer reading!
I'm particular curious about "The Oder Front 1945", since it probably has a good perspective about the battle of the seelow heights, one of my favourite defensive battles of all times.
Great advise panzermahn

Re: Map set order
It's importante to get a delivery system that assures that the mail is delivered to the right person, in portugal many companies use a delivery system where the receiver has to sign a postal recipt, thus, the mail doesn't get lost. Maybe this system would work out for you too. If you get back to bus...

Re: ?? on Soviet OOB in Kharkov 1943
Having seen such detailed Battle Orders, i think that in that regard there isn't much to add to this thread, nonetheless, if you can take a look at these book "Last Victory in Russia, The SS-PanzerKorps and Manstein's Kharkov Counteroffensive February-March 1943" by Geroge M. Nipe, Jr. (Sc...

SS-Sturmmann Alves, Erich SS-Div. “Das Reich”
While doing a research about portuguese volunteers on the eastern front, i've come upon an SS-Sturmmann with an odd name, Erich Alves. Alves was serving in the 2./Pz.Jäg.Abt. of the "Das Reich" during the battle of kharkov (Feb.- Mar. 43) where he scored a few russian tanks with a marder. ...

Re: Portuguese volunteers
I'm doing a research about those men, i'm still in the beginning, but have already compiled some good info about them. They were mostly veterans of the spanish civil war, the Viriatos, and despite being portuguese, most of the information i am getting is abroad, at NARA, and in several archives in s...
