Admittedly, my reference is more than 20 years old, but Martin Windrow, in Osprey Men-at-Arms #24 The Panzer Divisions says the 24th was formed from the 1st Cavalry Division on November 28, 1941, at Stablack, East Prussia, and that it trained in France from April thru June 1942, then went to Russia ...
