I agree with John. I also am growing tired of this trend in the West to demonize vets from wars no longer favored by their nations. Here in the US it would be the Vietnam Vets. I can't tell you how many I have seen that are homeless and whose goverment has turned their back on them.

I believe Germany would have still lost the war regardless of whether they won the Battle of Kursk. A war of attrition they were fighting could never be won against the Soviets so it would have just delayed the inevitable.

Oh I don't mean it that way its just that I consider Eisenhower first and foremost a great soldier who had to and did accomplish alot. Regardless that Eisenhower is one of my favorite presidents since the last Founding Fathers held office.

Yes I can see the Soviets now just twiddling their thumbs while the Wehrmacht pulls 900 tanks of the Eastern Front. Lets just ignore the huge logistical mess of transfer not even taking in consideration to try and get them to North Africa.

90% tank losses with 80% Casualty rate? You might as well throw the towel in that would be worse then when they actually lost the battle. Such a slaughter in equipment and personnel would destroy morale and you would be unable to fix such devestation. It would have been a quicker death knell for the...

Actually the US used the Springfield in most units up till 1942/43 when production started phasing it out. Most battles done by the Marines in the pacific used it or that crappy Johnson rifle.

I agree with Brian. Hitler knew little or nothing about leading men he spent most of his time on the front as a messenger runner anyways.

Any assiatnace?

I've been curious for a while and i have decided to start a search to see if any of my relatives served. They would be dutch and under the name Van de Water or van der Water. See this is the part where it gets really confusing since the family living in America have changed their names because of th...
