Re: 2nd Hermann Goring Panzergrenadier Divsion

Kelvin,
Without the original Pz Lage scan I would hesistate to draw any conlusive vehicle descriptions and/or numbers from my hand scrawled notes. I suspect my transcription is faulty in the extreme.

Re: 2nd Hermann Goring Panzergrenadier Divsion

Kelvin,

I do have some hand written notes For HG 1 from the same source but with the caveat emphasised in Martin''s response earlier in the thread. My notes are possibly error-riddled. Once I decipher my original scrawl I'll post it for 'vivisection'.

Re: German situation maps on this site

Abicht,
Sorry to hear that the project has taken over your day to day life. From a totally self centered (read selfish) point of view, I trust a future review may possibly lead you to recommence the project down the tract!

Cadres for Pz.Rgt.16

Just perusing a copy of Walter Dunn's "Soviet Blitzkreig: The Battle for White Russia,1944" where he makes a comment about PzG.Div 'FHH' providing 'the cadre' for Pz.Rgt.16 of 116th Pz.Div! Although the book is generally well footnoted with sources, this little titbit is frustratingly not ...

Re: 2nd Hermann Goring Panzergrenadier Divsion

That would be a 'no'!. The notes were from a Lage/report for self propelled weapons ('Sfl') so no towed weapons are listed in it. I take it the organisational scans posted on the 'Fs-Pz-Korps Hermann Goering' thread on Axis History forum showing the status of the Korps and its 2 constituent division...

Re: Origin of Fallschirm-Sturmgeschutz Abteilung HG

In reality, when HG 1 Shifted south with HQ 'GD' Pz Korps after 13th Jan'45, the Fs.Pz.Jg.Abt 'HG' (weak as it was -18 JPz's I think) of Fs.pz.Korps 'HG' remained with HG 2 effectively giving it 2 'armoured' detachments.

Re: Origin of Fallschirm-Sturmgeschutz Abteilung HG

Check out the website for 'Luftwaffe Homepage'/ground units which state that the StuG unit for HG 2 was a new formation. HG 2 did not have a nominal Pz.Jag.Abt - possibly a quirk of Luftwaffe TO/E's. A similiar situation existed for HG 1 where before the StuG unit was detached, it technically formed...

Re: German situation maps on this site

Abicht,
My main interest is in anything around Jan'45 for East Prussia & Poland (Army groups 'Mitte' and 'A'). However Like GaryD I like anything from the eastern Front!
