Re: Feldgrau Author: Charles Trang

Thank you ! Volume 4 is nearly ready now. This one is my favorite volume since it concerns mainly units on which nothing has been written yet.

Re: Feldgrau Author: Charles Trang

Hi Pimberg,

My books are difficult to find outside Europe because of its complicated delivery organisation. Moreover, 3,400 copies only have been printed that is why the book becomes unavailable in a so short period of time.

Re: ONLY 1 (one)

I just finished "With the Old Breed" that John had recommended. I enjoyed it a lot. War in the Pacific was really different from the European theater ! The amphibious warfare of course, the jungle, the small infantry units involved, the absence of armor battles ... War in the Pacific was m...

Re: What do you read at the moment?

I have just finished the reading of the book. I would like to add something to George Nipe's excellent work concerning his conclusion and more precisely to his writings concerning the II.SS-Pz.Korps losses at Prochorowka and its vicinity. SS-Pz.Rgt.3 fielded 11 Tigers on the morning of 12th July and...

Re: What do you read at the moment?

"Blood, Steel and Myth" by George Nipe. As usual, he and RZM have done a great job. Very nice reading indeed. Just a remark however concerning the naming of the units. Leibstandarte was never the 1.SS-Panzergrenadier-Division "LSSAH" nor Das Reich was the 2.SS-Panzergrenadier-Div...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Charles Trang

Maybe you should try to call Heimdal. The phone number is :

00 33 231 51 68 68

Otherwise, I suppose Amazon will get the copies very soon.
Best wishes and thanks a lot for your fidelity,
Charles

Re: Feldgrau Author: Charles Trang

I forgot to mention that this volume covers divisions 14 to 38 plus Divisionskampfgruppe "Böhmen & Mähren". There is also a small chapter on the 38.Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS. I suppose most of the readers have never heard of this one though it is mentioned in two official docume...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Charles Trang

Thanks a lot Pimberg ! You can order it directly via Heimdal's internet site or via Amazon, Abebooks ... It is a big book (400 pages in A4 size written in small letters) so it is rather expensive (58 Euros + the shipment charges). It is full of never before published photos and I got the help of a f...

My last book (Dictionnaire de la Waffen-SS, volume 3) is out since a few days. Unfortunately, it was not delivered soon enough for Christmas.

Re: E-Book Plans of Authors & Publishers

The question of e-books has never been discussed by Heimdal (at least as far as I know). Mr Bernage, Heimdal's owner, is not very concerned by everything that is related to new technologies. He cannot even be joined by email so I suppose this matter will not be a priority for him. E-books have made ...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Charles Trang

Thank you John ! Your informations are more reliable than Wolfgang Vopersal's, that's for sure. In this peculiar case, he had written that Julius Weck has assumed command of the battalion after Braun's departure for one day or so, Eberhard Heder not being able to take his post immediately. But your ...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Charles Trang

Thank you Mike. There are very few SS Ritterkreuzträger still alive and Eberhard Heder is one of them. I am still in contact with Rudolf von Ribbentrop. Last year, Heinrich Sonne sent a dedicated portrait to me. Unfortunately, I got no more news since.
