Crete is an island near Greece isnt it?

Tobruk was in the North African sphere, so you are right, no WAFFEN SS units fought there (should have remembered that sorry).

Cheers,

Craig.

John & Timo, I cant recall the exact source at the moment but it was in a book about the Leibstandarte (if my memory serves me correctly), I think it was via fighting in Crete or at Tobruk that the Leibstandarte had contact with the Australian forces & commented on how well they fought (coul...

Uncle Sam's Ex Employees

I wonder whether to so called "Weapons of Mass Destruction" havent been found because a) they dont exist or b) They have MADE IN USA stamped on the side of them.

Remember that Saddam & America's other favourite person Osama Bin Laden, are both ex employees of Uncle Sam!

Reading the above posts on this page, I must say you all make some very good points. Hitler was a military ignoramus & showed this constantly with his refusal to make or allow his commanders to make strategic withdrawals. Also totally agree with Beppo's point A coward is someone who bashes brave...

Doc, No, I am not a bigot. I am just stating my opinions about some aspects of the USA's foreign policy & the so called "War against terror". I dont consider myself illinformed about this, as my country is involved in the "war" & it is extensively covered here in the medi...

Matt, Cheers :D , just wanted to clarify my comments buddy, so no problems at all. My country Australia has gotten involved in this "Vietnam of the new Millenium" & many people are wanting to bring our soldiers home. With a federal election looming it will most likely be an election is...

Lit,

Lituania & Latvia do sound a bit similar, to someone so far away as myself but am I right in saying both are in the Balkans?

Do you know where abouts Tasmania is?

Cheers,

Craig.

Matt, A quote was taken out of what I wrote previously, with some left out, to make it look like I said "they were all terrorists in Iraq; this was NOT what I said (in future if using a quote, make sure you get it all, or dont bother). I was trying to point out how it seems fine today, for the ...

From all of my readings on the WAFFEN SS, I have never seen any mention of naval divisions. The 4 types of WAFFEN SS divisions are the Grenadier (Infantry), Panzer grenadier (Motorized infantry), Gebirgdivision (Mountain Division) & the Kavalierie Division (Cavalry division). There were Pioneer,...

I have read that Lithuanian & Latvian volunteers made up a large part of the EINZATSGRUPPEN killing squads. The TOTENKOPF division became a WAFFEN SS division in 1939 before the invasion of France (the three Totenkopfverbande regiments were merged to become the TOTENKOPF DIVISION) after the Poli...
