Re: German situation maps on this site
Ah fellow member.. I am not cross with anyone.. nor do I hold any position or post worth needing to defend a PM or post. This is the greatness of being able to express ones self and having myself being open to PMs. My post was only to let members know the process of scanning maps and I cant do every...

Re: Turkish Security Battalions 1943
Hmm good point... I should have thought of that. The units were just listed as "Turk". I hope I didnt make a large error. Still seems like a huge amount to Turkoman units. Would that ethinic group been put into seperate units vs. "Ost" Battalions? I know there are many that were ...

Turkish Security Battalions 1943
Here is a list of Turkish Security Battalions active in July 1943 in the East. I am wondering if anyone as data on where these soldiers were recruited from...came from... weapons and equipment used, key battles they fought in, and the fate of such units? The list shows 2 Battalions in Jult 1943 acti...

Gary... that might be a tiny bit broad.. how about date ranges or areas? The next Ost areas I was thinking was Kurland or AG Nord.

Re: German situation maps on this site
A general note to all interested in certain maps, dates, units, regions, battles, ect. I have gotten a fair amount of PMs wanting to know when I will have certain maps scanned in, or if I can do certain maps sooner than later. The process for this is... I have to take a day off work (meaning using m...

Re: German situation maps on this site
Ah well, maybe not as exciting as a car but, unpublished original source maps of Normandy, Caen, German Air Attacks on the Normandy beach head and operation of SS and other units moving against Tito seem to have a bit of interest... at least I hope or this may be the last grouping I offer.

Re: German situation maps on this site
Finally... new maps... and most cover either the Normandy Invasion or Anti-Partisan operations in the Balkans. A total of 173 new maps. I dont know how I will break them down, but in another couple days I hope to have that done. I hope there is interest in the Normany maps! Also I have about 30 new ...

Re: Can anybody help in getting German maps???
Yes... but... You will not find a 1:25,000 scale map, but you may find a 1:50,000, 1:100,000, 1:250,000 or 1:300,000 scale German topo map at the American Geographical Society (AGS) Library at the University of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Contact Jovanka Ristic at ristic@uwm.edu with the geocoordinates of...

Re: Normandy Sitmaps
I have seen many maps that show pre war boundaries, that were used even in the late war years. In fact many of the standard 1:300,000 maps the Germans used were actually captured Soviet maps overprinted with German names, and updates. Also many German produced topo maps were printed on the back of &...

Re: Normandy Sitmaps
Here is another one. This map crop is from a map series showing the German air effort against the Normandy beachhead. This series covers 6-20 June 1944. The blue arrows indicate German sorties made in the day, and green arrows those made at night. German losses are indicated by the symbol for a prop...

Re: Normandy Sitmaps
I have been working on scanning in Normandy and France 1944 maps, here is a crop of part of a captured German 1:50,000 scale map of the Battle of Caen. This map set covers 1-26 July, but not every date.
