8 cm PAW

Hi Sebastian Although the 8 cm PAW went into production as you say in December 1944, I personnelly think that very few, if any of these weapons actually reached combat units. The reason being, that the dislocation and total chaos inside Germany, especially with regard to the transportation of weapon...

9 mm MP41 Machine Pistol

Hi I would be very grateful if anyone can tell me how many of these weapons were actually produced by the Germans. The reason why I would like to know this is because in George F. Natziger's 'Rumanian Order of Battle World War II: An Organisational History of the Rumanian Army in World War II', it s...

7.5 cm Panzerabwehrkanone 97/38

Hi

I know that this weapon fired the following types of anti-armour shell; 7.5 cm K Gr Pz Patr (p) piercing shot, and 7.5 cm Gr Patr 97/38 HI/B hollow charge round.

What I would like to know is what was the penetrating capability of these two rounds of ammunition.

Thanks in advance

Hi Tom

The only thing that I know for sure is that a number of Pzkw IVs were used by the Syrians as dug-in pillboxs on the Golan Heights, during the 1967 six-day war.

Some of these being captured by the Israelis.

Hi Gorbag From about 1942 the growing demand for close-support weapons on the Eastern Front led to various emergency solutions. One of these was the adaptation of the 2.7 cm Walther Leuchtpistole to fire small HE grenades of special design. These proved to be quite effective within their limits, and...

MP 44

Hi Bittrich The only problems that the Germans encountered with the MP43/MP44 family was to do with ammunition stoppages. The reason why this occurred was that by 1944 much of the basic 7.92 mm conventional and Kurz ammunition was supplied with steel cartridge cases covered in a thin lacquer coating...

7.92 mm Panzerbuchse 39 with snipercsope

Hi In a book that I have called 'Weapons and Equipment Of The German Fallschirmtruppe 1935-1945', there is a photograph that is captioned as follows: Two-man team with a Panzerbuchse 39 anti-tank rifle in Holland in 1940'. The thing is that this weapon has been fitted with a sniperscope. What I woul...
