Sir Oswald Mosley's crew

Prit, Jez, and any other Brit on this forum: This seems to be an interesting question, indeed. Correct me, please, but I seem to remember an old article in which it was said that Mosley (sp?) and all other registered British Fascists were scooped up by the Special Branch and placed in holding camps ...

Extraction of fired cartridges from MG 42

The picture you show is an MG42 in its heavy machine gun set-up. The spent shells can clearly be seen on the grass. As you stated, the spent shells were expelled to the bottom. Incidentally, this is also true of the MG34.

German Red Cross in WW2

Everybody had to toe the line. Having said that, the German Red Cross was perhaps the least of any organization with political ties. The connections to the International Red Cross in Geneva, Switzerland, were about as wide open as it was necessary. There are many instances where Swiss Red Cross pers...

Rudi Salvermoser was one of them. His story appears as part of Jason's collection of veteran stories.

US Forum members, watch out for IRS scam

My daughter, the computer whizz, warned me of a new outbreak of a computer scam. The e-mail purports to come from the IRS and tells the recipient that his last tax return is electronically checked out. He has 48 hours to answer to avoid paying penalties. Some of the questions asked are about his ban...

Virus/worm ......ARE YOU INFECTED?????

While I opened your e-mail, my computer flashed a RED WARNING, saying that I was importing a virus from you! Incredible! I immediately ran a scan and wiped out the little bastard. You might be infected, Xavier! My daughter did not say, so...sorry I cannot answer your question. However, since she wor...

VIRUS/WORM WARNING!!!!!!

My daughter, the computer genius working at a CPU/Tax consultant firm, has warned me of a new virus type worm, Friendgreet which takes over your address book when you have downloaded the software you need to read the e-mail greeting card it supposedly helps you get. From there, it will get into your...

For Blackfire

Yes, the German soldier, at least until 1943, had a "Gasplane", a sort of rubberized or plasticised cover under which he was supposed to fight while being gassed. From my own experience, you would have been dead seven times over before you had all that crapola fixed up. Thank God, no one s...

Sorry to tell you this, but I think you will have to go back to the drawing board. No US unit was involved in the battle known as El Alamein II; thus, he could not have been captured by US troops there. If he was captured at that bitterly fought-over hole in the sand, the Brits or Aussies did it. Se...
