Bully for you!
Just the kind of action these crooks need. There was a "shop" in Richmond, VA that sold repros - some as the real stuff. When his handwritten(!) catalog ($2.00 a pop) came into my hands, I saw a "high Polish bravery award from the First Wodl War" offered. Since Poland did not exi...

If what you say is true in all cases, where are my reviews? Only me positive and semi-positive reviews made it; the others were @&#% canned. Joscha

Fleeing the Red Army
Jez, the occupation of the Ukraine is a story of moronic mistakes, racial idiocy, and just plain dumbness. 99.9% of the German soldiers who faught in that land and crossed it at least twice, knew very little of how badly the civilian population was treated by the political arms of the German Reich. ...

Volkstrauertag pictures
Most interesting. The German military has returned to its traditional rank insignias, I see. Makes a lot of sense. Also, I see that there are women officers in the Marine. That must have been a complete revolution, both in the ranks and in the officers' corps. The guard at the Luftwaffe memorial wea...

Try this, Nate!
Scheisse im Kanonenrohr kommt Gott sei Dank sehr selten vor.
Or this: Drill Sergeant to German recruits, 1940:
"Ich werde Euch Fressäcke schleifen bis Euch das Arschwasser die Eier kocht!"
Since rude sayings were the original topic.... Joscha

Gary, there were no paratroopers at Anzio; not there, and not at Nettuno. This was strictly a German Wehrmacht battle. Fallschirm troops were further down the coast, past Ostia,. They were the ones who gave a lot of grief to the 36th Texas Division (US, of course!), and were the ones who held Monte ...

Glad to be of help. There is enough BS out there, and I think persons truly interested in history should get info from many sources, because every participant looked at it in his own way. Diversity brings truth.

HJ or not HJ, that is your question, huh?
In the larger cities, the pressure to join was considerable. In the agricultural communities, this pressure was just about absent, because every young person was needed to work - be it in the fields or the animals, whatever. Linz was Hitler's home town and there was pressure to join. Also, bear in m...

Tattoos in the US Army
Wrong. They cannot toss you out of the Army just for the tattoo. Body piercing is another story, but tattoos ... What they can do is getting your ace for conduct unbecoming an officeer (if the tattoo is raw). They also can get you for recklessly endagering your health (the new Hepatitis C is a bitch...

A few days ago, I fell victim to my curiosity and read the book, "The Master Sniper", by Stephen Hunter. If anyone of you ever is tempted to read this....shall we say, fictitious account ... BEWARE! It deals, among any number of BS "facts"with the WSS Nibelungen division. Anyone ...

MG barrel
Philip, not even the gunner would know. There are just too many variables.
What about the cartridge? Was it lacquered steel (notorious for bad extraction problems). Was the barrel clean, or was there sand in the receiver? Or mud?
The questions would be without numbers.
Sorry. Joscha

Rammbefehl
Damnifiknow! I remember reading something about Goering's Rammbefehl, but I really could not say if it ever was obeyed. I concur; last desparate thing to do, and pretty idiotic, especially when you look at the numerical relationship between Allied air craft and German ones. But then, never discount ...
