Only Hohenstaufen, Frunsberg and Hitlerjugend had one SPW battalion each (III./20, I./21, III./26) and I think the numbers are just to low to make any comparison.

To your first question Heinz: from the numbers posted above you can clearly see that the regiments with the SPW battalion received more KC than its sister regiments, but if you take a more closer look your thesis is a bit weak. DF Kdr. 2kc+3ol+1sw I. 3 kc II. 3kc III.(gp.) 7kc* +1ol supp. 1kc = 16kc...

Hi Abwehr, here are some numbers: SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt.4 "Der Führer" - 21 = 16 KC + 4 OL + 1 SW - the most highly decorated German infantry regiment in the WWII. SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt.3 "Deutschland" - 19 = 15 KC + 3 OL + 1 SW; SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt.9 "Germania" - 19 = 17 KC + 1 OL + 1 SW...

Thanks Craig and Baltasar! It just so happened that this certain action ended during the maintenance period, which is apparently the same on all the Ebay sites.

Another Ebay question

Is it possible to bid during the maintenance downtime? I would really appreciate any answers hopefully in the next 12 hours.

Klapdor was with the Wiking Panzer Regiment, but was transferred to Frundsberg in 1944 and became the division's O1. He also wrote a book on the Wiking Pz.Rgt.

Ustuf. Walter Girg lead a company of around 105 men (1./502) during the operation LANDFRIED in Rumania in 1944. The company was sent behind enemy lines on the Carpathian mountain passes to scout the main directions of the Russian attack. Girg was captured in the proccess but managed to escape and th...

I guess you're still waiting for an answer. Hauptscharführer Kepplinger was the first NCO of the Waffen-SS to receive the KC, soon after he was promoted to the rank of Untersturmführer for bravery in the face of the enemy. The picture you're reffering to (as Ustuf. with Hausser and Keppler) was take...

There was a discussion on this topic not long ago on das-ritterkreuz.de forum and they posted some very interested facts (which I BTW have a hard time beliving). Apparently the action involving Anding, Walle and Stützle took place in Stadensen, Krs. Uelzen/Niedersachsen. Some other aces: Ostuf. Wilh...

Another great book on this subject is also Fürbringer's La Hohenstaufen (French/German), also probably the best resource on the relief attack since this is the division that actually took part in it (Frundsberg was engaged further to the south at Buczacz).

I think Wolfkin has a point there, there's no mention of I./1 being equipped with SPWs in Lehmann&Tiemann. Plus, other four SS-Panzer Divisions (with 1 SPW-Btl.) had a similar number of SPWs as Leibstandarte: SPW, PzSpWg and Art.Pz.B.Wg 9.SS-Pz.Div. (1.6.44): 259 op + 34 in short term repair 10....

Yes a great idea Wolfkin, though I remember a certain person recommending it back on the old Feldgrau forum.
