Hi Lennardg!
I saw this videoclip several times and from what I can remember at least the lower one shows the Leibstandarte (KC holder Hans Malkomes) during their transffer to Hungary in 1945. I'm not so sure about the first one, is it from the same newsreal as the second one.

The whole subject regarding the Hohenstaufen's Panthers is very complicated and not just during the Normandy campaign but also during the Market Garden. I've already checked all three books (Fürbringer, Tieke, Reynolds) on the Hohenstaufen, but all of them have conflicting reports about the location...

Hi FBB and Starinov! On this particular date (26 March) the I.SS-Pz.Korps was composed from 1.SS-Pz.Div., 3.SS-Pz.Div. and 12.SS-Pz.Div., the II.SS-Pz.Korps from 2.SS-Pz.Div. and 6.Pz.Div. The other two SS-Pz.Div. were with the 6.Armee (General Balck): 5.SS-Pz.Div (IV.SS-Pz.Korps) and 9.SS-Pz.Korps ...

Panthers in Normandy
I found a mention of 5 Panthers being deployed on 14th August (1944) in the area Tournebu-Martainville (just W of Clair Tizon between Laize and Orne). Together with the 102nd sSSPzAbt. they supported the 271st Inf.Div. Does anybody know to which unit did these Panthers belong to (i have a hunch but ...

Hi Hans! I've checked a few additional info. 1st SS-Inf.Brigade was in December 1941 deployed in 2nd Army sector (between 2nd Pz.Army and 6.Army) first with XXXXVIII.Pz.Corps and then in January with LV.Corps. If you have any maps of this area you will notice that the 2.Pz.Arm was concentrated aroun...

Hitler gave the order on 27 March 1945 to all 6.SS-Pz.Army's SS divisions (LSSAH, DR, TOT, HJ) plus the Hohenstaufen. The failure of the offensive was probably one of the reasons. Others were also: constant reports about poor performances of SS units in Hungary during the Soviet offensive (courtesy ...

Hi Christian! I don't think this is the reply you would have wished for but here it goes. I couldn't find any picture of either Eberhardt »Teddy« Telkamp or his Panzer IVs taken during the BoB in the books that cover the Hohenstaufen (Tieke, Fürbringer, Reynolds). I would be however interested if yo...

There was a certain General d. Panzertruppen Heinrich Eberbach which also celebrated himself in the battles at Tula with the Panzerbrigade Eberbach (created from the remaining panzers of 3rd and 4th Panzer Division). At the time of the battles around Tula he was still Oberst. You can find more about...

Wolfkin made a big time error :D  , confusing the names of the 10th SS with the 9th SS and interestingly this is quite a common mistake in a numerous books. Powerful, I'm sure you know that the 10th SS-Panzer Division was actually named Frundsberg. The formation of the division started in Dece...

1. Das Reich and Hohenstaufen,
2. Heinz Harmel and Sylvester Stadler,
3. So many great ones, but my favourite two: Teddy Telkamp and Simon Grascher,
4. Operations in Hungary in 1945 and Operation Bluecoat,
5. I haven't been modelling for about 10 years now, before that mainly 1/35 and figures.

The Panzerverband Strachwitz was formed in summer 1944 from several panzer units in order to reestablish contact with the Army Group North, which was isolated in Latvia. As far as I know the Panzerverband was formed from 101st Panzer Brigade (Oberst Lauchert) and SS-Panzer Brigade Gross (SS-Sturmban...
