Too many negatives
I've so far translated as With Zeitzler's appoin...

Re: Question on Kurowski's book "Battleground Italy 1943 -
Would be interested in other opinions of the work, or the author. Perhaps the translation is simply bad and this reads much better in the original German edition. There's a thread here, inter alia, on Kurowski. http://www.feldgrau.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=30376&p=234310 Much of his wo...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Richard Hargreaves
Many thanks. You'll have to wait at least two years before Book No.4 appears, currently called simply 1942 , as it's already six months behind schedule thanks to the day job. :( Hopefully I'll be able to post a taster next summer. Further down the line there are a couple of books on the bombing war,...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Richard Hargreaves
I'd be interested to hear what people think of it; I think it's by far the best thing I've done thanks to very thorough preparation and research and an organised writing regime, time spent on the maps and imagery...

Re: ONLY 1 (one)
Well, I was going to suggest Kempowski's anthology Das Echolot , but as we're limited to English... Kurt Meyer, Grenadiers . Sure he was a rather brutal, uncompromising figure, but as for his memoirs, the breathless, historic present tense makes for a great read pretty much unlike any other memoir I...

I believe it's been printed, although I've not seen my copy yet - I usually get a batch a few days before the shops. I'll keep people posted.

Re: Panzer Division Müncheberg
According to a post on the AHF, the Müncheberg diary was published in edition no.629 of Kameraden in April 2006. Any idea what this is and where I might track it down? There was a long running veterans' magazine, Alte Kameraden , but I'm not sure if it still exists; at any rate no copies from April ...

Re: Panzer Division Müncheberg
Thanks gents. Having dug out my battered old 1958 copy of Thorwald, there are about 10 pages of extracts from the diary. The source notes lists a Walter Kroemer-Pecoroni who evidently collected a lot of documents on the battle, among them an account of Weidling's Corps and the Müncheberg. Thorwald d...

Panzer Division Müncheberg
Does anyone know the source of an oft-quoted diary from an officer serving in the Panzer Division Müncheberg in the final days of the war? Ryan used it in the Last Battle and there are extracts on Wikipedia ( http://is.gd/Ie8Nep ). I'm trying to track down the original - published or unpublished. It...
