Re: Unit great-uncle killed at Gaissin Ukraine July 1941

Matt,

IR 420 & IR 421 were both part of the 125 Inf.Div. which was in the Ukraine at that time.

Yes, great work as usual Raúl !

I don't know for sure as I've not seen a photo of him before, but I suspect the man with the headphones and map in second photo on this page is OTL Gustav-Adolf Riebel, Kdr. Pz.Rgt.15.

Re: Die Deutsche Divisionen

I've had all four for years and I agree with most that has been said. One thing that is never mentioned but is very noticeable is they are not real durable. I pull mine off the shelf often and it shows! Covers are worn out, bindings are broken, individual pages fall out! Surely not as important as c...

Panzerbekämpfung

An officer evaluation says he was "Stabsoffizier Für Panzerbekämpfung". Staff officer for opposing tanks?? Any idea what it means, or what the responsibilities of a Panzerbekämpfung officer were?

Thanks, Jerry

Re: 12 Volksgrenadier Div on 12/16/1944

John, I corresponded with Forrest a good bit back several years ago after having made contact with him here at Feldgrau. As I told MadDog in a PM; when last I heard from Forrest ('03 I believe) he was experiencing some domestic difficulties and would be moving soon (he lived in Alaska) and would mos...
