Re: Calling all published authors on Feldgrau!

Jason, not to blow my own horn, but I wanted to let you know my book; Panzer Regiment 8 in WWII, was just released by Schiffer. The book is out there and I just received a copy myself about 3 weeks ago. Looking forward to the reviews by the forum members once the book begins its circulation. Thanks ...

Pzr Abt 8 Knights Cross winners

Hello All, just thought I'd throw this out there and maybe get a hit or two, since the Honor Role Clasp search worked so well. I am searching for any kind of back ground info on the following 3 Knights cross winners from PzrAbt8 of the 20th PGD. Ltn Kurt Kruger (later KIA) OFw Heinrich Mahlstedt (KI...

Re: Panzerjager Abteilung 1559

Martin, thanks this is perfect and just what I needed, this guy joined the 1559 in the Feb/Mar 45 as a freshly minted Lt and was a former Uffz with Pzr Rgt 7 and PzrAbt 8. He mentions joining the 1559 in the Feb/Mar timeframe so he must have had a Zug in the JgPzr Kp.

Thanks

PzAbt8 Honor Role Clasp recipients

Hello All, I know its probably been posted a hundred times. I am searching for recipients of the Honor Role Clasp from Panzer Abt 8 of the 20th PGD. I know of four men from the Abt who received the ward in 1944, namely the Abt and Company Commanders, but I have nothing for 1945. Any assistance, eith...

Re: What US award does DKiG equal?

Jeff, I would have to agree with Tom and his post. But, to answer your question I would have to say, on a very simplistic level, Knights Cross = MoH or DSM DKiG = to that of a DSC EKI = silver or broze star medal EKII = a BSM or Commendation with a V device Keep in mind many a general won a Knights ...

Opel Blitz

Hello All, I have a diary from a Stug commander that I am presently going thru which mentions an Aped face vehicle and Muli (Mules) and later describes it as the Opel Blitz with Halftracks. Is this the Maultier version or am I totally mistaken in my translation? The German text states; " Dann k...

Panzerjager Abteilung 1559

Hello, and a Happy New Year to you all where ever you may be. I was hoping somebody out there might have just a small bit of info on this unit. All I am really looking for is the type of anti-tank guns/vehicles it fielded (if at all) and the parent unit of assignment. All I know is that it fought in...

Re: 15th and 21st panzer divisions at El Alamein Oct 42

Perry, I have a few good maps of the area, they come from the mircofilm of 15th PD's KTB from the NARA archive and show the more northern end of battlefield, they show the positions of the mine fields and all the German and Italian units positioned there. Send me a PM with your address and I'll send...

Re: JagdPanthers in Pz Abt 8

Thanks guys I appreciate the info. It certainly makes the point that a panzer battalion use to fighting in Mk IVs and Stugs would not be too well versed in the mechanics of the Jagdpanther and it may have just been the confusion of the Mk IV "Guderian Duck" with a long 75 instead of an 88m...

JagdPanthers in Pz Abt 8

Hello all, I hope that a few of you can clarify a few things for me. I am looking at March-April timeframe of 1945, near Berlin. The Panzer Abteilung 8, assigned to the 20th PzGrenDiv was issued with a number of Panzer Mk IVs and Jadgpanthers. This is according to a number of veteran sources, parts ...

Re: New book on the DAK

Hello All, Here is an update on my up-coming book. I just spoke with Schiffer and found out that the book, which was scheduled for a 28 September release, has been pushed back until November. As I understand it, the book is being printed in China and so is on it way via that slow boat from... Anyway...

Re: New book on the DAK

Thanks guys for the support. I hope the book will meet your expectations. I spent almost 6 years researching and building this book. Although there will be some errors found, I still feel the data and stories included in the book are pretty accurate and will help shed a better light on the German si...
