Anyway, the summaries were just that, summaries of the units reports at end of day, 22:00, so were snapshots of the unit status at that time, they weren't cumulative at all, I think you may have been confused by the report title. I meant they'd be a total at the point of compilation of the summary ...

I would always have assumed the War Diary, being a digest of daily unit and combat reports passed upwards , would necessarily not always be in tune with something like WO 235/636 "A.F.V. States Summaries by 21st Army Group, June, July 1944" and WO 235/636 "Daily A.F.V. States, Second...

Hi Rich, Thanks for the clarification. Any thought's on Michaels post and his theory of Churchills lost on this date. Could the War Diary be that wrong. I was expecting a couple of tanks here or there but War Diary's 39 versus your WO 235/636 33? I suppose the short answer is yes? Regards David :D ...

Hi Michael, :D Thanks for the extra info. Could you (or Rich) elaborate on the source for your figures of 31st Tank Brigade strength. WO 235/636 "A.F.V. States Summaries by 21st Army Group, June, July 1944" and WO 235/636 "Daily A.F.V. States, Second Army Summaries, June, July 1944&q...

Thanks for information. I have also checked a book of Burkhart Mueller-Hillebrand and discovered there a report on the availability of tanks in Group Army South as of 20.11.1943. Hi again Igorn, I rather suspect that MH took that from the 20 November G.I.d.Pz.-Tr. report. What is important to reali...

Maybe of interest: Zustandsbericht 11.PD 1st August 1944 Jan-Hendrik Very interesting Jan! Thanks. Do you have any idea why they had over 1,500 personnel leave the division for miscellaneous reasons in July? Was there a transfer of personnel to another division or divisions? I am also curious what ...

Hello Rich Unfortunately not, the information is from the Gen Pz. Trp. West files and they start at the end of August 1944, when he was installed. Typo: should read Pz.Inst.Abt 551. Cheers Hans Thanks Hans, that was what I was afraid of. I suppose the organization and units probably didn't change m...

Jan-Hendrik Hi Jan-Hendrick, According to the 10.
