Re: Hitler: Beyond Evil and Tyranny by R.H.S Stolfi

Panzermahn - You appear to be recommending a book that you have not even read. When I see comments like this, "Stolfi ranks Hitler's successes from 1919 through 1941 as achievements so astonishing that he must be characterized, along with Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, and Napoleon, as one...

Re: Happy Birthday, HaEn!

Our esteemed veteran member HaEn had a birthday last month and nobody remarked about it here. I sent him the comments below after his birthday since some people of a certain age may no lontger wish to be reminded of their birthdays. :D For those who don't know him, Andy Rooney was a noted commentato...

Re: E-Book Plans of Authors & Publishers

Marc - Thanks for your comments and I am pleased to hear of Helion's plans to publish e-books in the future. I just finished looking through their on-line catalog an don't see any e-books listed yet. You mentioned that your For Rex & For Belgium would likely appear in an e-book version next year...

Re: E-Book Plans of Authors & Publishers

Jukka - You don't seem to be very well informed about ebook technology. All the Kindle and Barnes & Noble titles that my wife and I had purchased for the Nook were available on the "Cloud" and could be easily downloaded again and viewed on our new Samsung Galaxy. You also don't state i...

E-Book Plans of Authors & Publishers

I am sure that many of you have noticed all of the new and improved low priced e-book readers such as the Kindle and Nook this holiday season. Plus the large variety of excellent tablet PCs such as the Apple iPad and its worthy imitators from Samsung, Toshiba, Asus, etc. When one looks for a book on...

Re: ONLY 1 (one)

Excellent idea Dan! My nomination is “ With the Old Breed ” by Eugene Sledge. I read this book last winter after watching “The Pacific” movie, Steven Spielberg’s and Tom Hanks WW II Pacific version of the earlier “Band of Brothers” that my sons had given me for Christmas. The movie was based on Sled...

Re: SS-Personalveränderungsblatt from June 1944

I have never seen any documents that a man with the name of "Raf van Hulse" was ever promoted to the rank of SS-Untersturmführer or even Standarten Oberjunker. It is very unlikely that anyone promoted to Ustuf. in 1944 would not have a file in the Berlin Document Center or be mentioned on ...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Stephan Hamilton

Stephan - It is unfortunate that a Kindle version of "Bloody Streets" is not available. That way interested readers could still obtain copies without having to pay high prices on EBay. Did you ever have any discussion with your publisher regarding the production of a Kindle version?

Re: LSSAH Führerbewerber at Tölz - August 1940

Al - I have been conucting extensive post-war status checks on LSSAH officer vets. These include considerable work with the Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt) in Berlin since 1984, the veterans themselves to include a former Stubaf. who became a senior manager in the Bundesnachrichtendienste and knew quit...

Re: Einsatzgruppen

According to the well-informed Christoph the largest single source for manpower of the Einsatzgruppen was the Waffen-SS. Therefore, I believe that this is an appropriate place for such discussion. However, I can't recall having seen anything in the personnel file of a W-SS officer mentioning that th...

Charles - That is a very nice letter from Eberhard Heder, who I have had the pleasure of meeting with in person several times. He is a real gentleman. Unfortunately, information from Wolfgang Vopersal is not always accurate despite what I am sure was his best efforts. (just like some of my own infor...

Hans Bünning became and Ostubaf. and Artillerie Regiment commander in Wiking . I met him at his home in Nürnberg shortly before ...

Lexxx - Thank you for your donation. Your financial support is very much appreciated. Who else has contributed recently? Can anyone figure out why AHF has a number of paid advertisers while Feldgrau has none? Even though AHF has more registered members than Feldgrau (42,351 to 8,828 on Feldgrau) the...
