Review: Neutral Shores (Ireland and the Battle of the Atlant

Neutral Shores (Ireland and the Battle of the Atlantic) by Mark McShane, Published by Mercier 2012. ISBN9781856359344 Leaving aside all the other constituent parts that make up a decent book, the most essential aspect is that it’s a good and enjoyable read. Without that key factor, then any other at...

Wave-quelling Oil

Hi To be honest I had never heard this until I was reading a book by Mark McShane called Neutral Shores, which I'm reviewing. In the notes he states that "Wave-Quelling oil was used to dampen the effects of waves around lifeboats. A canvas bag filled with this oil was attached to the sea anchor...

Re: Review: Mussolini's Navy (A Reference Guide...)

Hi Jukka

The Littorio publication is indeed of the same quality as Brescia's, and in part that's because Bagnasco
also had some input into it.

I also have Jordan & Dumas great tome, French Battleships (1922-56), again by the same quality publisher.

Can anyone figure out why AHF has a number of paid advertisers while Feldgrau has none? Even though AHF has more registered members than Feldgrau (42,351 to 8,828 on Feldgrau) th...

Re: Show Us Your Library

Hello All Impressive libraries for sure on show over these past 4 pages. Even though I have moved away from my earlier interest in all things German and Eastern Front and subsequently sold most of it on, I often contemplate what would happen to my library if I was to pass this mortal coil? My ex-wif...

To have any hope of answering that question you would have to define when After the War actaully was!
