Re: Tiger der Division 'Totenkopf' by Wolfgang Schneider

I agree with Jan-Hendrik. It is well worth getting. Schneider does a very good job at getting down to the individual soldiers experiences via the written word and pictures contained in this fine book.

SS KRIEGSBERICHTER AUGUSTIN - Book

I recently received the latest book by Charles Trang titeled : SS KRIEGSBERICHTER AUGUSTIN (Heimdal). After the previous book "SS KRIEGSBERICHTER Roth" I was very pleasantly surprised with this new book. Not only are the pictures a good quality but there are a large number of photos I have...

Next time you seem him Jan-Hendrik tell him "congratulations from Australia". It is an exceptionally well written book from numerous personal perspectives - and I very much like that.

Regards,
Peter from Melbourne

Re: Out-of-print book updates

Hi Panzermahn, I think you misunderstood Mark. Weidinger, the author, has sadly passed away. It is the "owners" (the buyers/readers) Mark is alluding to. Anyway, I believe the 17th SS Pz. Gr. Div. Götz von Berlichingen 3 volume set by Munin Verlag and Schild Verlag are a must for translati...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Mark C Yerger

The Polizei Division is one of the oldest divisons - as it's number in fact implies (4). However it surprisingly seems to have the least good published research on it. I'm especially glad to know Mark is the one delving into this subject now. It couldn't be in better hands. I can't wait for this boo...

Re: "Tiger" by Rüdiger Warnick and Stephan Cazenave

John, In my opinion about 50% of the photos were new or were photos that weren't cropped as they were in previous books (eg: photos of Hartrampf and photos of Kalls). As with most Heimdal books the photos of various people are repeated again and again as very small portrait shots. A number of photos...

Re: "Tiger" by Rüdiger Warnick and Stephan Cazenave

Hi John, I'll start by mentioning that the book thanks your goodself (Herr J.P.Moore) in the acknowledgements. There is a short Foreword by a former Panzerfunker of the Abteilung and then the two authors provide their Foreword - which is well done. Rüdiger Warnick provides a small wedding photo of h...

I think the book is good. Well written and overall good photos. There is a very great photo of Albin v. Reitzenstein I have never seen before.

FANTASTIC news Mark. You're one of the very very few researchers/authors that breaks new ground.
I can't wait to receive a copy of Volume 4.

Re: New Stalingrad Book: Angriff by Jason Mark

I totally agree with the above comments. The book is a must have. Furthermore the service Jason Mark provides to his customers is second to none (ie: prompt replies, excellent packaging and most importantly delivers on time - something that seems rather rare in the publishing world). Congratulations...

Re: Wolfram von Richthofen biography

I received my copy a few days ago. It is well written and a good biography. the author has researched his subject very well. It's good to have a luftwaffe book that is not about fighter pilots and about the planes but about a senior commander of the Luftwaffe.

German Cross in Gold - Volume 3

Over a week ago I finally received the latest book by Mark Yerger - this is Volmue 3 of his German Cross in Gold Holders of the SS and Police. This is a remarkable series and already I cannot wait for volume 4 to come out. To date each volume is worth twice as much for the price paid for. The qualit...

Re: What do you read at the moment?

I'm reading a new book published by Cambridge University Press - titled: "Hitler's War Poets" by Jay W. Baird. I've only just received it and at first glance it seems objective and well researched. Two chapters I've quicky read are bios on two interesting Waffen-SS officers -ie: Kurt Egger...

Mark has hit the nail right on the head: "writing the books...that.. don't exist". Apart from the fact his books are excellently researched and presented, they also break new ground. That's the reason I will without hesitation put in a pre-order.
