Re: Does anyone know the name of the man
Hmm, it could perhaps be possible to figure out.. But first you'd have to figure out which unit this Lange belonged to.. The book doesn't specify anything but his rank (Hauptmann), so that would be hard. If you pull it off you could perhaps look up the German Cross in Gold holders (using a book abou...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Doug Nash
Nicolai, RZM is planning on doing a 3rd Edition of Hell's Gate with an accompanying photographic volume, which will be all new. It has been in the planning stages for a couple of years, so it will probably be at least 2 more years before this comes out. Apologies for the delay! Also, glad you liked...

Re: New Tissier Book on Kustrin 1945
Sent Tony an email and he provided some more info about the book: This book is based on the work of two Germans involved in the siege. The late Hermann Thrams compiled a diary of the siege that was published in 1992, while Fritz Kohlase wrote an account of his experience in the siege and started com...

Hmm, are you thinking about å utgjøre with the funky Ø (O+/)? If so, it can probably be translated as "make up", "amount to" or "constitute". It's easier to say if you post the whole sentence.

Victory was Beyond Their Grasp was excellent, so I'm definitely looking forward to the reprint of Hell's Gate. (Haven't had a chance to pick the book up yet to due to the high prices used copies are currently going for - $150 on Amazon.com and £150 on Amazon.co.uk ) Edit: Or, hmm.. There's a ...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Richard Hargreaves
Haha, yes, I suppose that writing a book about Dirlewanger and the 36th SS wouldn't be particularly financially rewarding . :D How many copies have you moved of your other two books, by the way? Writing military history doesn't seem to be very profitable (especially not the very specialized stuff, l...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Richard Hargreaves
Henrik Lunde just put out a book on Norway as well. No reviews yet, so it's hard to say if it's any good. There's a ton of really solid material on the invasion of Norway (first hand accounts and whatnot) that's pretty much untappable unless you speak the language, so doing a well-rounded book on t...

Yes, it's a very well known propaganda photo taken by PK Geller. Jason Mark's excellent photo book on Stalingrad has a lot of interesting info about it, including a series of photos taken by PK Sautter that show it being staged. (They were both part of a three-man press team from Panzer-Propaganda-K...

Re: Failed Allied Invasion-Wrecked LC's and Tanks Litter Beach
If you want to resize pictures you can generally just use MS Paint if you're running a Windows OS. Open the picture in the program and press CTRL+W to open the resizing menu. Rotating and cropping (removing the borders and whatnot) is also quite easy. Save the picture with a different file name to a...

Speaking of fakes, this guy seems to have bought more than a non-originals. Not necessarily re-enactors, but.. Thank you very much foryour help getting these here. I will give proper commentaries on them tomorrow. One pic in particular I dowant to brag about-is the one that has two German Sergeants ...

Kelvin: There are 44 appendices. #1-36 are various documents - all sorts of stuff, really. Some examples: #25 is a "Letter of Praise from the 3. Panzer-Division (7 October 1943)", #26 is an "Exhortation to Desert (4 February 1944)" (a leaflet dropped by the National Committee for...

Re: Breslau 1945
Mean to write Panzerfäuste. Noticed it after a while, but you can't edit posts after they've been replied to, so I was unable to correct it. No big deal.
Most people know what a Panzerfaust is, in any case. If not, they can look it up on Wikipedia.

Re: Books that need translating
Yes, I suppose that all writers have their imperfections.
It'd be neat to see translations of Vopersal's series about the Totenkopf division - "Soldaten - Kämpfer - Kameraden", but I get the impression that it is very unlikely to ever be translated.
