From my reading i see that LH had a great influence over Hore Bolisha (spelling/)even to the point of getting some officers approved for certain jobs like Gort as CO in France.I can't believe high ranking officers would let a retired officer of such a low rank and little experience would have so muc...

Sid,there is one thing that i really don't understand about the Brits in WW1 They seemed reluctant to give up ground, i'm thinking of the Ypres salient, the Germans held the hi ground, thier artillery could bombard the salient from 3 sides, the Brits were suffering a hi rate of casualties even in so ...

Sid, I don't think the Brits did too bad adapting to the tank, i think Cambrai was a good indication of thier starting to think of mass. It took a lot of smart men and a lot of study between wars to come up with the armor of WW2, the generals of WW1 didn't have that option. I think most generals wer...

The one i was thinking Monty wanted canned was the commander of the Guards armored brig.

I think some of the Brits problems in WW1 were that to many of thier generals in high places were cavalry generals who had a very limited idea of infantry tactics. Some how they had these grand plans, big sweeping movements without an inkling of the many tactics the infantry man would have too employ...
