Re: KG-Einem/24th Pz Div early Jan'45

Well, that's what the reports say at this period. You can go to Freiburg or IWM, London and check.

I'm trying to work out the makeup, will come back if I succeed. I know what they used to get up to.

Re: 2.Panzer-Division / Panzeraufklärungs-Abteilung 2

No Kelvin, You've got it all wrong. Both 2PD and Panzer Lehr (But largely wholly armoured) were PD 43's. So LeIG's in PG Btl. heavy coys. was quite correct. Panzer Lehr did not have 12cm mortars. Where on earth did you get that idea? sIG's in 2PD Btl. heavy coys. were luxury add on's. Establishment ...

Re: 2.Panzer-Division / Panzeraufklärungs-Abteilung 2

I mean they did not have towed gun for 7.5 cm and 15 cm I.G. 2. Pz had SP IG in form of sdkfz 251/9 and Grille. Kelvin, don't go head to head with Martin, you're bound to lose. 2PD 1Jun44 4/PGR2 2 7,5cm leIG 8/PGR2 3 15cm sIG 4/PGR304 3 7,5cm leIG 8/PGR304 3 15cm sIG 5/PzAA2 2 7,5cm lIG 2PD 1Jul44 ...

Re: 2.Panzer-Division / Panzeraufklärungs-Abteilung 2

Kelvin, 2PD overall was showing PD 43 organization both 1Jun44 and 1Jul44. After the latter date I doubt they had much opportunity for esoteric reorganization.

Re: Herr Unit Identification

There's something wrong with this pic. No eagle badges on caps or jackets. Not German cockade, but something else.

Hi Aris, I did but lost them now. Unfortunately I had two major computer disasters last year and lost some stuff, including these pics. They were in yellow, probably in Tunisia, or possibly en route through Italy. I think they were lost in Tunisia, although I have not seen Allied pics. of them captu...

Bender Pictorial History of HG also has a few pics. of them in grey. I reckon they were from expansion phase of HG from Brigade to ...

Starting 1Nov43 army KStN for PGR Coys. called for 13 Panzershreck per coy. Pz Lehr actually had that in Normandy to start with. Average number per PD where present or reported was about 80. I'm not aware of numbers for Panzerfaust in KStN. In all my PD Gliederungen, the average number of Panzerfaus...

Hi Reb, KStN's were supposed to be exactly the same for Army and Waffen SS from Spring 1943. A few minor units continued to be different and were marked SS on Gliederungen. That was influence of Guderian, new Inspector General of Panzer Troops. Guderian probably also wished that WSS PGR's were reduc...

Correct. There were 3 Ausf H being prepared, but they were in Germany. Luckily, the Panzerlage Ost had recently split L43's and L48's on Reports.

William,

I have already answered question on Italian Stugs with 1 and 2 Panzer Flamm Coys. 26PD did not have Stug. III's.
