Hi, in introduction - what Czech nationalism you talking about? Czechs are not nationalistic nation, unfortunately I can say, that Czechs have no even healthy patriotism (by the way consequence of 300 years under Austro-Hungarian empire!). Nationalism is closer exactly to Slovaks and Hungarians. You...

Hi Pretorian, well, an amazing post of Yours... Amazing that You can still post stuff like this on a research forum, actually. Czech lands were rich, with very advanced infrastrucute and strong industry, the rest lands were poor, Ruthenia was poorest territory in Europe at all. I wouldn't think that...

Famous Hungarian poet Miklós Radnóti had also been imprisoned at Bor before he was shot during the forced march to the north after the evacuation of the camp. He carried a notebook with himself ("the notebook from Bor") that contains the most touching poems of a genius facing his death. ht...

Hi, Hi Guys, This is going to be difficult because English and German transliterate Cyrillic letters differently. Can anyone make an informed estimate of what "Domoniochowa" would look like if transliterated into English rather than German? Cheers, Sid. This is not even a proper German tra...

Hi Jason, I don't know whether the staff of Pz.Jg.Abt.16 was inside or outside the pocket, but I suspect it was inside. Let me quote a thread on this forum: Does anybody have the History of the 16th PzDiv??? I'm looking for any info about units and Kampfgruppen of the 16th Panzer-Division from Novem...

Hi Jason, at last!!! Your info is crucial!!! As far as I know (or as my data shows), stab/PG Reg 64 and stab/PJ Abt 16 weren't encircled; they were separated from the rest of the division at Kalach. So, Burgsdorff wasn't flown out - he didn't even go in. A KG Burgsdorff was formed from Gren Reg 580 ...

this is the alter ego of the 15. Inf Div (Gen Winkler), having semi-corps duties. Also see "Gruppe Winkler".

Hi, there is much controversy about this unit. Two concurent thoeries exist 1. Von Stumpfeld Division, formed from Eastern volunteers 12/12/42, destroyed inside Stalingrad. This theory is supported by several sites, but all data is from one batch. 2. Gruppe von Stumpfeld. Unit formed as ad-hoc group...

PzGr Reg 64

Hi, I'm looking for a list of the regimental commanders of the PzGr Reg 64 (16. Pz Div) for the period October 42 - February 43. A brief bio of the commanders would be splendid. Also, I'm looking for a list of the commanders of the PJ Abt 16 (16. Pz Div) in the same timeframe. Any help would be appr...

I suppose Jan wanted to ask if there existed in Italy a system similar to the German Wehrkreise (=did each unit have a specific area from where the the troops were conscripted from, and if yes, what were these areas).
