Ah, Oskar, that memory shall conveniently solve the problem of how he escaped when the last bridge across the Dniepr was blown up. Unfortunately, the next installment will be delayed somewhat. :(

Ok, Bismarck was sunk in 1941 and was in no way recovering. Cross that one off. Tirpitz was sunk in 1944. Scharnhorst was sunk in 1943. Gneisenau was the only one that could be scrapped and broken up.

So, Gneisenau?

Scharnhorst class had 28cm guns, Bismarck class had 38cm guns. The bunkers were all built from the leftover turrets of the ships, especially Gneisenau, which was heavily damaged from a raid on Brest and was scrapped.

A wild guess, I know. :?

Part 7 MH and Kurt stood guard absent-mindedly, bored out of their wits. Though they were on the front line, it had been quiet ever since they'd got there. There were only two Panthers in the area, as the unit had been stretched paper thin over the defenses. Feldwebel Paulus had rounded up another p...

There is a restaurant on the main street of my town called "Ghengis Khan's Mongolian Grill and Range". I didn't see any of fuss over the opening of that. I think it's also due to the fact that India hasn't been permeated by Holocaust information or literature, and even if it was, it would ...

Part 6 Hauptmann Torquezowsky inspected the anti-tank defenses. On Gribovka's northern side was long, narrow hill. He'd chosen the spot to place all the remaining anti-tank guns of the 293rd. There was a grand total of 6 guns left. Four 75mm paks, and two 88's. Luckily, the path in front of it was n...

Part 5 In one of the few undamaged buildings in Medovo, Lieutenant General Yevgraf Koshevoy made his HQ. In one of the rooms, a group of his officers circled a large map set up. Gribovka and its defenses made a long, horseshoe shaped salient in the Russian line. On its northern flank, the defenses w...

Sorry Tom, it's those ranks are a bit ambiguous. I'll edit it, since the jump from Staff Sergeant to Major is quite a big one.
