Well stated Wolfkin. The question is: WHERE IS THIS ORDER ? and if it has disappeared what else does the "Das Reich Archive" hold? I am very keen to know more about this "archive". It may seem minor but it is things like this that caste doubt on the professionalism of the staff a...

I highly recommend this series. Books on the equipment (eg: Panzers) and senior leaders of the German Army are still churned out virtually ad naseum. More often than not stating nothing really new. However books on the relatively unknown junior leadership is still very much untapped. No doubt becaus...

Hi Sid, In fairness to Paddy I was the one that made the comment: "waiting until the ink drys". I typed it in with little thought because I was trying to understand why one has to wait until June 10 2004 for this "order" to surface. Can anyone detail any other reasons? It was the...

Well stated Paddy Keating. And what the hell has the comment "post war politics" got to do with the original post and question. No one in this thread is disputing the killing of 600 people in Oradour. The question still is where is this order? The original post was started by someone quoti...

Sid, You're not wrong in what you state. However I thought this Forum was for "research" and as part of further on-going research it would be interesting to know if there was an order from "higher up" to target Oradour. Furthermore this supposed revelation (ie: the "order&qu...

I just want to ensure that this particular post/topic (ie: proof of a direct order to destroy Oradour) is still "alive". In four more days it will be sixty years since this tragic event. Why one has to wait for an anniversary to share such important information begs a number of questions -...

Wolfkin, I appreciate your comments regarding Reynolds however I am very much one that does not rate him as much of a researcher/author. One thing Reynolds is NOT and that is a researcher. The only good thing about Reynolds is that his book are marketed to the greater public (ie: most large general ...

Agree with most of the above.
Any new books by Hugh Page Taylor I would not hesitate to pre-order.

Hugh,
If you're "listening" - any update on Volume 6 (I haven't given up hoping!) and your research on the SS & Police in Itlay?

The ABWEHR in Afghanistan

I realise this may be a long shot but can any help me with good detailed information on: 1. The Abwehr - Abteilung 1. In particular "I H Ost'". 2. The Abwehr in Afghanistan - in particular Kabul. Information on personalities, pictures articles/documents directly related to the above would ...

It's the best that I'm aware of and seems to be detailed and objective. Albeit I'm no expert on Wenck's life & career and the last time I read it was over 10 years ago! It's certainly better than a book like "The Last Prussian".
