Re: [Wanted] Waffen-SS Soldbuch

Re: Rudi Welz
Thank you Franz, !!!!! I do not talk on the phone or even Skype to Rudi, because: get this . . . . .my German is deteriorating at an exponential rate :x I can read it, and understand it as before, but when it comes to speaking or writing, I fail miserably. Personally, a very good friend, made me a reproduction soldbuch, based on my Stammkarte and info i had given him. If it were not f...

Re: Ruhe in Freiden
Hi Franz, If you wish to use German terms, please make yourself comfortable with the right spelling. Ruhe in FRIEDE ( pronounced Freede) , NOT Freiden which would be pronounced Fraaiden, or Friden . I forgot most of my German, but at 85 that is understandable, I don't think you are that old yet. But...

Re: Weapons issue
About recorded information of the time : Lots of records were burned at the last minute, or just thrown away, and disappeared. Some records were 'recaptured" or 'rewritten" when all was over, and some schreibstuben still pretended to function, although already in an internment camp. My Reg...

Re: Weapons issue
Oh yes, I remember it well. After passing my kradmeldertests, i was issued a U.S. 1911 pistol (12mm) (45cal). (beutewaffe) Our melders room was right above the C.O.'s office. I sat on my cot, , took it apart, put it back together, and without thinking pushed the ammo clip is. next 'firing pin...
