Re: 250 I.D. on NARA

Very usefull indeed, thank you for the info Pak, i knew the site, but i'm still going through the huge amount of documents it has. It's one of the best sites in terms of original documentation, and some of our members contribute with material. I have a few studies in hand, and i'm thinking of asking...

Re: Spanische-Freiwilligen Kompanie der SS 101

Thanks for the input Sebastian, there are many rumours about the spanish SS units, and this happens because there is so little information about them, thats why myth and reality are very difficult to distinguish. I read that they fought with the french, the belgian even with italian SS units, and al...

Re: 250 I.D. on NARA

I'm having some difficulties in this text, there are several abreviations and i can't figure them out: "Der feind beschoß unsere erste linie und das Hintergelände mit störungsfeuer aus Gr. W., Pak und Geshützen mittl.u.s.kal. mit schwerpunkten in Pushkin, Wojskorowo und Krasnij Bor." If someone coul...

Re: Spanische-Freiwilligen Kompanie der SS 101

I'm still searching, but up until now i haven't found none. I have NARA documentation for the Blue Division, and some of this men came from there, i'm in contact (recently) with the spanish archives, and i'm searching there too. It's going to be difficult, because this issue was very sensitive for t...

Re: Spanische-Freiwilligen Kompanie der SS 101

Thank you Doktor Krollspell for the interesting information, i'm about to get a book written by Miguel Ezquerra, and i've also read an article about the spanish SS units, they were two: Spanische-Freiwilligen Kompanie der SS 101 and 102. Unfortunately, i still haven't found the info i'm searching: a...

Re: Writer "Antony Beevor"

When i think about the alternatives to democracy, i honestly prefer to live in the freedom that only democray brings. It may have several major flaws, but that's because it's human made, and we all know that men always abused of whatever political system they have. There is no perfect political syst...

Re: Writer "Antony Beevor"

Portuguese schools teach the students that in those days portugal was run by a dictatorship, and that it was that same dictatorship the responsible for the colonial war by not accepting a political agreement with the rebels, and the independence of Angola, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau,... As to the war...

Re: Writer "Antony Beevor"

While you are right in criticizing all this nonsense that some like to call "modern military history", the fact is that military history (in this case, 2WW) has always been mistreated, to say the least. In the former soviet union, stalin dictated the glorification of the soviet armed forces, to a po...

Re: Writer "Antony Beevor"

a few years ago when a few people from the Joensuu University representing the previously mentioned group addressed the public in Helsingin Sanomat that funding should be directed from traditional military history to such modern and up-to-date topics like "Gay eroticism of the Officer Corps" I coul...

Re: Writer "Antony Beevor"

I've read both books in portuguese, and this last one is also translated. I've been lucky that they were well translated, but sometimes the person doing the translation is not acquainted with military terms, and when some have a double meanning, mistakes occur. It's not the first time that i write t...

I really have to get one of your books Richard, i'm constantly reading great remarks about them, and i really liked reading the samples you posted. Since i started working in my tesis, i've been working with several archives, and...sometimes it's really hard to get what i need. An example, i once we...

Re: Selling research collection, Kannapin Feldpost set for sale

Hi James,
i'm interest in maps from the Leningrag Area, do you have any with the 250 I.D.?
They can be from Army Group, Army or Corps, or better even, from the Division. There was one battle in particular that i'm interested, Krasny Bor, in 10, February 1943.

Spanische-Freiwilligen Kompanie der SS 101

This company was formed from the remnants of the Spanish Legion, also known as the Blue Legion, that was formed by volunteers from the Blue Division (250 I.D.) when this was ordered back to spain in 1943. This company was attached to the 28 SS Division (Wallonien) and later to the 11 SS Division (No...
