Hi Jarek & Sid,

I have already seen the KTB of the WB Denmark, but, unfortunately, there was no clue.

Sid, the 599. Brigade included one eastern battalion, the Ukr Bn 683. But this unit never became a part of the UNA.

This is quite an interesting idea, Lorenz! I'll see if I can dig up anything about "281" and the Ukrainian independence movement.

This is sure going to involve a lot of reading in Russian/Ukrainian. (sigh)

I'll be sure to let You know if I can find anything.

Hi, thanks for the efforts, Lorenzo! :D Well, You have come to approximately the same results as I did, still I have got a few ideas. This unit, as part of the UNA, could have carried a different designation in the UNA and for the Wehrmacht (see the case of the ROA/KONR divisions, numbered 1=600, 2=...

281. Ukrainian Reserve Brigade

I'm looking for info about this little-known Ukrainian formation. What I know so far is that it joined General Shandruk's Ukrainian National Army (UNA). Was commanded by Colonel F. Gudyma and had 5000 men (!). Was deployed in Denmark. I've tried numerous sources including Askold's excellent on-line ...

Upon arrival in the town of MOROZOVSK they detrained and then marched to the town of NIZHNE CHIRSKAYA. As they proceeded across the snow covered steppe towards Stalingrad expecting to come upon retreating German forces but instead they ran headlong into a Soviet pincers and they were scattered in a...

Hi Bill,

Genl Erich Baessler was Stadtkommandant Oslo between 28/10/44 - 8/5/45. So I suppose that the 191. Res Div was non-existent at the time. It may be possible, though, that the Stab 191. Res Div became the Komm. Oslo, hence the confusion.

Gren Reg 71 (B)

Hi, a number of regiments named Grenadier Regiment xx (B) were formed during the fall of 1942. What was the purpose of forming these regiments? Were they somekind of "doubles" of original regiments? For example, Gren Reg (mot) 71 was encircled at Stalingrad during 11/42 as part of the 29. Inf Div (m...

Great!!! This solves the problem. I wonder why do all "basic" sites have a false cronology...?

Wonderful, thanks!

Hi Jan-Hendrik, thanks for the tip. Another issue apart from the composition that bothers me about this division is the list of the commanders. All "standard" internet sources list the following order of commanders: Generalmajor Johann Meyerhöfer (11/7/43 - 27/7/44) Generalleutnant Siegmund Freiherr...

Hello Jan-Hendrik, thanks for the link. Do You think that the composition of this division remained the same throughout the remaining months of the war? For something makes me think that the OoB above is only a "list" of the units involved in the creation of this division, and not the actual "lineup...

413. Infanterie-Division

Hi, I'm looking for info, mainly about the composition of this "Leuthen" division formed 3/45 in WK XIII. What I know so far, is that it was a mobilized version of the Division Nr 413, also dubbed Ausbildungs-Division 413, and had fought against the US troops at Hammelburg. Any info is welcome, Than...

Hi "Genstab", superb work as ever!!! Just one little question. I have 1/3 153. FAD popping up at LVII. PzK, PzAOK 4 throughout February 1943, but Your OoB doesn't reflect this, it has the full division at HGr A for the spring of 43 [f.e. 11/2 full 153. FAD under Bef. Krim]. Any idea about this discr...
