Re: KAMPFGRUPPE MÜHLENKAMP 5. SS-Panzer-Division Wiking, Eastern Poland, July 1944

The long-awaited book arrived today. I first made a cup of good coffee and along with a couple of Lindt dark chocolate truffles, I spent the afternoon thoroughly enjoying this excellent book. Even after seeing the draft, the final product greatly exceeded my expectations. Well done!! The amount of r...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Peter Mooney

I find it rather strange that Peter Mooney appears to be posting on FaceBook under the name of "Kurt Sameitreiter". Further, he is posting photos of vets, sometimes in their underwear, where it appears that he has Photo Shopped himself into the image, standing or sitting next to the vet. P...

Re: New "Wiking" Book 1942-43 by Charles Trang

The book is in the French language only. The coverage of battles and organizational matters is extensive. 24 black and white maps are included at the end of the book.

New "Wiking" Book 1942-43 by Charles Trang

I received my copy of Charles Trangs new “Wiking” book several days ago. This is the second volume in his series about the “Wiking” Division and covers the period May 1942 – April 1943. This well-researched and profusely illustrated 464-page book has some very good original photos. I was particularl...

Re: Goodbye

It has been a little over a month since HaEn died. I am sure that he would be delighted to read all of these thoughtful comments that so many people around the world whose lives he has touched have been making about him. Attached is another photo courtesy of Guy Power of HaEn playing the guitar in t...

I have a difficult time taking a book with such a bizarre and sensationalist title very seriously.

Re: Goodbye

Here is a photo of Hugo's awards and decorations that one of his friends gave me to post. In addition to his German awards (minus the Infantry Assault Badge) are Dutch army badges: Anti-aircraft Artillery Badge and beret badge (don't know about the regimental badge and the Red Cross & medic badg...

Re: Goodbye

Sadly our friend Dr. Hugo Neyenhuis died just before midnight on May 8th in Portland, Oregon. Hugo believed that he was the last surviving member of the 34th SS Freiwilligen Division "Landstorm Nederland".

Re: Feldgrau Author: Charles Trang

I am still reading my copy of Vol 1 of the new "Wiking" series. There is a lot of text in the book and reading in the French language takes some time. The photos are excellent and once again Charles succeeds in finding some very good original photos.

I am really looking forward to seeing Mark's books about the "Wiking" DKiG holders. I'm sure that we will all be amazed by the new photos and interesting details that Mark always manages to turn up.

Re: „Nord“ and „Prinz Eugen“ May 2008 Veteran Reunion

Benesch was also a veteran of the "Nord" division. In the summer of 1941 he was an Unterscharführer in the 8./SS-Infantrie Rgt.7.
