Re: Deserters family

Given the number of former KPD members that must have been buried away in the Wehrmacht - are there any recorded instances of former German Communists going over to the Soviets After June 20th, 1941??? What about Heinz Keßler, the former GDR Minister of the Armed Forces? He defected in 1941 to the ...

Re: Axis History Forum problems?

Hi,
Are there problems with AHF again?
They went down around midnight GMT last night and have not resurfaced so far.

Let's hope it'll soon be up and running again.

All the best

Re: Bay of Danzig 1945

Hello Prit! I think you're correct with your suspicion. The Soviet forces broke through to the Bay of Danzig in the Zoppot area on March 23rd, 1945. Bekker (p.229) mentions that heavy Soviet artillery (estimated to be of 17 cm and 21 cm calibre) was stationed on the hills Hoch-Redlau and Steinberg s...

Bonsoir, the Verbindungsstab 992 in St. Etienne was commanded (at least in August 1944) by an Oberst Wittekind. http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gliederungen/Kommandantur/KK992-R.htm http://www.ihtp.cnrs.fr/prefets/de/schlussbericht.html http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=65838&...

Hello Lorenz,

many thanks for your information on the 'Stammkennzeichen', an excellent contribution. I had never heard about those before (Luftwaffe is not really my cup of tea) but after googling around a bit I believe that your explanation is the best.

Best regards

Luftwaffe flying unit with unit code "T0"

Hello all, does anyone of you know a Luftwaffe unit that used the signs " T0 " (or perhaps " TO ")? I've looked through several unit code tables that are available on the net but this code seems to be missing. Presumably it's a Kurierstaffel or something like that. Pictures of th...
