Re: irony?

at a lack of better words... Doesn't matter where the tune came from. The sentiments are the same world over. BTW.....what is a good Canadian? yes, that's true., but it's more of what it represents, or what it had represented. perhaps not the most appropriate song to play on the eleventh in Canada, ...

irony?

I love irony... so our music teacher hands us all a load of new score and we, as diligent students, ask, "what the hell is this for?" so he replies, we're going to play some hymns as the students work their way into the gym on remembrance day. okay. one problem: my friend noodles around wi...

Re: German issue weaponry

quick rundown... k98 range- 600m w/ telescopic sight. perhaps even to 800. but practically, 300m or so is the effective range with irons. cyclic- 25rpm or so, bolt action. 5 rounds, internal mag g-43 range- more or less the same, probably less accurate than k98 semi-auto 10 rd. detachable mag. MP-38...

Re: The Wonderful World of Wikianswer!

I love those school graduation ceremonies, especially when some big shot refers to the student body as " the leaders of the future". oh, we're F***ed... oh, and I shoulda taped my history teacher ranting for you, Phylo... he said that Nazi Germany's elite forces were -wait for it- called t...

Re: Military surplus in everyday use...

They are not blast resistant. hey Sniper! :D well, that's what I heard from a ex-soldier. perhaps he's wrong, but I think those cans can take a significant amount of abuse. and it's pretty widespread... I saw a garage in Malaysia with a 50cal box as a tool bin. Use some of my helmets if & when ...

Re: Military surplus in everyday use...

hey Phylo the one that pops to mind for me are surplus ammo boxes, i've seen them used as toolboxes and i've seen them sold at some place that sells tools and random junk (real ratty condition). I use mine (Canadian for 7.62 nato, belted, ball) as a box for stuff. if you had to keep some papers or s...

Re: rangefinders

hey, Waleed!

that seems to help, but that's not exactly what I was thinking. so if the 4m+ ones were for arty, what were the 2m ones for? (and what was their German name?)

thanks/cheers/Happy Canada Day

rangefinders

yeah, those things, not the cameras. (though the Contax II is really sweet)

those 2 meter rangefinders made by Carl Zeiss and the like- do any of you lads know where to find more info on them, in print or on the web (preferably the internet)? all I seem to find is the camera stuff.

cheers!

Re: Armor mystery

Wonder what happened to them? I ate 'em for breakfast. :D yeah, about that... were the dug in panzers already damaged (before their burial)? maybe they were cannibalised for parts before they were buried... that's a frightening ( ) number of recovered tanks to me. but what can they do with ...

Re: Interviewing Vets...

interesting... but i'm worried of the kind of question that might put them in an awkward position or put them off... like if I asked "what is it like to end someone's life", that might cause a stir. get where I'm going? sorta? I see your point about guidelines, but the "who, what, whe...
